My apologies to all for the late post this week, but Garrard County will make the long trip to Campbellsville (I'm still not sure what's the quickest path!) to meet up with the Taylor County Cardinals. Garrard enters the game with a 2-1 district record and can likely clinch second with a win. Taylor sits at 2-1 as well and will take a big step toward second place with a win (although the Cardinals still have to play Wayne County). Garrard County fell to Somerset last week by a closer-than-at-seemed 34-20 score while Taylor County squeaked past Casey County 22-21 in overtime.

On offense Garrard County is averaging 28.9 points per game, while allowing 30 per game. Taylor County has taken an offensive step backward this season and are averaging 18.1 points per game while giving up 35 points per game.

If this season's game features as many points as last year, then both offenses will have to improve drastically...and the defenses will have to struggle mightily! Taylor County won a shootout in Lancaster last season, 65-56. The 65 points by Taylor County was tied for the third most allowed in history by a Garrard team, while the 56 scored by Garrard was tied for fifth most in school history and the most ever scored in a loss.

Much like Somerset last week, Garrard County and Taylor County have a very limited football history. The schools have met four times on the gridiron, with two meetings in the late 1980s and then two more since the schools joined the same district in 2007. The schools have split their four matchups.

Historical Preview

*This marks the 5th meeting between the schools

*The all-time series is tied 2-2

*Both schools are 1-1 on each other's home field

*Garrard County won the last meeting at Taylor County, a 34-33 victory in 2007
