11th region Cats Pause preview

Featured Replies

A lot of it is mental, but Southern is the favorite this year in the 44th. They looked very impressive this summer, and have everyone back from last year's team. I watched Central play Model this summer at the Bluegrass Championship, with Central only winning by 5 and Model missing a few of their top players. I'd be surprised if Southern didn't open their new gym with a win over Central to start the season.

I'd love to see it happen, but I think the odds of it are very low, IMO. A few years ago everyone is Madison County was talking about how much better Southern was than Central, then MC opened the season with about a 30 point win.

I agree, also what about Manning of Scott Co not on the top 10 list....:idunno:

He will be a sleeper for all region. I believe he will be running the point this year for Scott County. Although everyone on the floor for SC runs leads their break at some point and time during a game.

Will Region title be in the Cards?

My self I am suprised at the player rankings and some that were left off.:idunno:

The team rankings will be different than what Wiseman has, as the season progresses. With the exception of SC and LC at the top it looks like he drew the others out of a hat.

I think preseason-wise Scott Co, LexCath, and Tates Creek are the top 3 as of right now.

I would have no problem putting The Creek 3rd. They have some very nice players. I think Barksdale is very good.

I agree, they are my dark horse to come out of the 11th. I even picked them in the Nov contest. Also think that Wayne Breeden is a very good coach.

Yes, I remember that year. MS had the Stocker player who went to UT on football scholarship and several other talented players. They couldn't pull it off. Talent levels vary this year but it will come down who can outcoach who.

Stocker quit basketball his senior season. He started the season playing, but quit before it was over.

The team that is way overrated is Lafayette. Coldiron hasn't changed a thing over there except to cut seniors that have worked for 3 years. There is no offense to speak of and I wouldn't be surprised if they fall way below expectations.

Here's my Top 5

1. SC

2. LC

3. Tates Creek

4. Henry Clay

5. LCA

Bryan Station and Madison Central will be down this year I believe. Station has a couple of big players but will be interesting to see guard play absent Morones and Ashford.

Tates Creek could easily be the 11th region surprise winner in March

Henry Clay has a very nice team. The are fast and athletic but no big guys.

LCA may also be a surprise team in the strong 11th this year.

Of course Scott County will be #1 in the state and hard to beat. Catholic has some nice players in Martin and Beckam.

Bryan Station has averaged 24 wins a season over the last 5 years. While they have suffered some personnel losses, (several to other Lex. schools), Champ Ligon has established a very consistent program and I wouldn't underestimate their ability to compete against the best in the 11th.

Cousins has transfered back to Alabama from Tates Creek, this will hurt thier chances, but still a very good team.

Is Barner playing at Bryan Station? Knew he left Mason Co and heard he was going back to BS. Any one know?

Cousins would have been a good player down the road. he was not even a starter.

That will be a loss for sure, but not a major one, he was still very raw.
