September 22, 200917 yr Well it all comes down to the next 2 weeks. For the Braves to have a chance at the playoffs they'd have to finish 11-2 and have the Rockies go 6-6 just to force a 1 game playoff. While it is improbable the Braves do have a slight chance. Most of it falls with the Rockies though. Braves pounded the Mets tonight 11-3.
September 22, 200917 yr Colorado's schedule looks like this: San Diego San Diego San Diego St. Louis St. Louis St. Louis Milwaukee Milwaukee Milwaukee LA Dodgers LA Dodgers LA Dodgers I think that at best the Braves could hope for this: W W L L L W W W L L L W That would be 6-6. If they could manage to maybe lose one to both the Padres and Brewers, and then get swept by both St.Louis and the Dodgers that would be even better, I just don't see it happening.
September 22, 200917 yr Author Here are some Braves stats-standings for the year. NL Rank BA- .265- 4th Runs- 685- 6th HR- 143- 9th ERA- 3.65- 4th Quality Starts- 90 - t1st RA- 603- 4th SO- 1115- 5th BAA- .256- 4th Basically the Braves have had a very solid year especially on the pitching side. Offensive struggles during certain stretches is what killed the Braves.
September 22, 200917 yr Author Braves remaining Games: @ Mets @ Mets @Washington @Washington @Washington vs. Florida vs. Florida vs. Florida vs. Washington vs. Washington vs. Washington vs. Washington Braves need to go 10-2 over their last 12 games to have a shot. Good that the Braves finish the season with a 7 game homestand. They really need to sweep both Washington series. I think if the Braves can do their part then the Rockies will struggle to finish it out.
September 22, 200917 yr It would be crazy to see the Braves make the playoffs . I'm not getting my hopes up too high though. One game at a time... It would be awesome if they could finish the season with 13 straight though...
September 23, 200917 yr Author Braves win 3-1 tonight on a stellar pitching effort by Jair Jurrjens. Jurrjens is 4-0 against the Mets this season and is 6-1 lifetime against them. Braves go for the sweep tomorrow. San Diego currently leads Colorado 6-5 in the 3rd inning.
September 23, 200917 yr The Braves are doing their job, but the other teams just aren't losing enough. The Philly series hurt like it has all year.
September 23, 200917 yr The Rockies win. I expected the Rockies to win atleast 2/3 against San Diego anyways.
September 23, 200917 yr Author Yeah the San Diego series isn't much of a difference. As long as the Dodgers, St. Louis, and Brewers can at least take 2 of them or get a sweep then the Braves have a chance. The Padres series would have been a bonus.
September 23, 200917 yr Author The Braves are doing their job, but the other teams just aren't losing enough. The Philly series hurt like it has all year. More than the Phillies series, the 5 game losing streak 2 weeks ago is what hurt the most. Braves have handled the Phillies for most of the year.
September 23, 200917 yr Author Hudson vs. Pelfrey tonight @ 7:05pm Vazquez, Hanson, & Lowe will be the pitchers going up against Washington this weekend.
September 24, 200917 yr Author Braves currently lead 5-2 San Diego leads 2-0 on Colorado in the 3rd Here is some enjoyment. Hudson scares Eddie Perez
September 24, 200917 yr Well, the Braves got a crucial sweep on the road, and now they get the first series against Washington. If the Braves have one thing in their favor, it's that they have seven games against Washington coming up. I don't think they can afford to lose a single one. The Rockies are down 6-1 right now. Hope that holds.
