September 4, 200917 yr Seems like Trey will continue to offer business as usual to Kentuckians as 23 Senators are going to hold a $500 per plate fundraiser. Who are these Senators? For the most part it's a bunch of GOP members who chose to bail out the banks...among other "conservative" moves?
September 4, 200917 yr I see no reason why Grayson will be anything different than what our politicians have given us. For once, we Kentuckians are giving a UNIQUE opportunity to elect a Senator who will offer real change and real solutions.
September 4, 200917 yr I disagree. Trey has routinely bucked his own party on issues that have come before him. He is his own man, and a young, fresh voice with a track record of accomplishment. His efforts just as Secretary of State have been outstanding. Look, I realize the libertarians want to categorize Rand Paul as the Saviour of the Western World, but the fact of the matter is that if he was the party's favored child, he would accept GOP contributions just as readily as Grayson, or any other politician would. In fact, I daresay if he wins, and he could, he will accept them in the general. What IS business as usual is the spin machine party line stuff you guys have already bitten off about painting Grayson as a DC insider when he's never had a job in DC. They tried to paint Trey as a "lifelong politican" the other day on WHAS, until they were reminded that Trey was a private lawyer for several years before getting into politics, and also that at age 37, "lifelong" just doesn't seem to pack the same punch. Just accept this race for what it is, an interesting primary for a heavyweight seat, between two young guys that are fresh, energetic faces with solid private and public backgrounds. It was like this past year's Super Bowl, hard to get mad at either team.

But, it seems to me that whether he was a "DC Insider" or not, he will be soon. When Mitch and the rest of his boys get a hold of him I don't see him straying far from the course. You may think it's "spin machine party line stuff"...but if it keeps happening over and over I think it holds some weight... I also find it very telling that a group of CINO's choose him to hold a fundraiser for.

He doesn't fall into line with their "business as usual" politics.
September 4, 200917 yr Anyone have a problem with this? http://photos.cleveland.com/plain-dealer/2009/08/trey_grayson.html
September 4, 200917 yr Anyone have a problem with this? http://photos.cleveland.com/plain-dealer/2009/08/trey_grayson.html No. Trey Grayson is an a quality candidate and a step up from the incumbant. It isn't likely that I will vote for him if he is nominated, but if the race is Grayson vs Mongiardo or Conway the state is better off regardless of who wins.

It isn't likely that I will vote for him if he is nominated, but if the race is Grayson vs Mongiardo or Conway the state is better off regardless of who wins. Let me restate my question. Anyone have a problem with the location of his announcement?
September 4, 200917 yr Let me restate my question. Anyone have a problem with the location of his announcement? No. Its not akin to Obama's address. Grayson is a Dixie Heights alum, and he's also there, present, and in person to be confronted about his statements.
September 4, 200917 yr I wanted to address this separately. Rand Paul is not the parties favored child for a reason. He doesn't fall into line with their "business as usual" politics. He's not the favored child because the party believes that Trey has a better chance of defeating Mongiardo or Conway. I think you are overstating the "lockstep" theme, campaign money is more about winning, not about conforming. Its why Terrell Owens is with the Bills.
September 4, 200917 yr No. Its not akin to Obama's address. Grayson is a Dixie Heights alum, and he's also there, present, and in person to be confronted about his statements. You assume the students had the opportunity to stand up and confront him. Are you also assuming the students there were there on their own volition? Are you also assuming those students weren't missing class time?
September 4, 200917 yr Let me restate my question. Anyone have a problem with the location of his announcement? No. Kids don't get enough exposure to our leaders. I think it is important for them to be exposed to leaders and would be leaders. But then, I think President Obama's address to school kids is also a great idea.
September 4, 200917 yr You assume the students had the opportunity to stand up and confront him. Are you also assuming the students there were there on their own volition? Are you also assuming those students weren't missing class time? My local state representative (also my uncle) was there. Several students asked questions. Many parents were there. It was actually part of a pep rally. I don't assume anything else.
September 4, 200917 yr No. Its not akin to Obama's address. Grayson is a Dixie Heights alum, and he's also there, present, and in person to be confronted about his statements. Sorry, your argument looks like a distinction without a difference to me.
