I look for the Tigers to bounce back after losing the the Cards last week. Rarely do you see a Bardstown team lose to two straight rival schools.

Bethlehem has only beaten Bardstown once, correct? About seven years ago, didn't Bethlehem beat the Tigers in the season finale, costing Bardstown a playoff berth?

I agree with easy pro I just don't see them putting up that many points on Bethlehem either. I predict a tight game with Bethlehem coming out on top.

 

I think EasyPro was quoting an earlier post and disagreeing, thus the "barfing" smiley. At least I hope he was. If he was supporting Bethlehem I know some folks who would be raking him over the coals.

 

Noone at Bardstown is taking Bethlehem lightly, not after 2003 and the 2007 playoff game. There is no question but that Bethlehem has some vets and Bardstown is young, but the Tigers get a home opener, they have two games against 6A schools under their belts, their offense and special teams have the capacity to be very explosive, their defense just needs to let their hair down and start playing with controlled fury, and I think they'll be fine.

 

Incidentally, one factor that is an almost surety is that Bardstown is going to be starting any drives after kickoff's by Bethlehem in very good field position. Noone is there right head should be kicking deep to the Tigers.

 

Stan Torzewski is to be commended for his job at Bethlehem. He came in 3 years ago, as a man still in his 20's, replacing a coaching fixture, with a team that had almost no returning players, at a school where soccer, and not football, is king, had to endure a season of injuries, the defection of coaches and players alike, overcome an administration scandal, actually forfeit a game because of personnel and depth problems, and revamp and entire offensive system to match the personnel that he had available. All of that is nothing short of remarkable and worthy of comment.

Don't agree with me...I think Bardstown should schedule practice instead of playing that night. Bethlehem plays soccer well though.

2003, cost them the playoffs. Then they beat an undefeated Tiger team in the second round of the 2007 playoffs. Unpleasant memories.

Bardstown's depth is about as shallow as the kiddie pool. As a former player on a state championship team, I can assure you that the tradition at Bardstown will have little effect on the outcome. I will agree that Bethlehem is better this year than last....although the same can be said for Bardstown. And last year was a laugher. Sorry, but as the kids say, "It is what it is". Chad Ochocinco would say, "Bethlehem, its time to kiss the baby."

With all due respect, Bardstown has put up 74 points against two pretty decent Class 6A schools. Robinson, Wimsett and Owens are nice players, but unless Bethlehem keeps time of possession at 2 to 1, this game will not be close. I reserve the right to revise and extend my comments if the injuries to Harper, Mattingly and Willett are more severe than expected.

 

Found out yesterday that Mattingly is out for the year with an ACL tear. Tough loss for the Tigers, especially on defense.

Bethlehem quarterback Clay Owens has been sick this week and will not start, and likely will only play defense. Last year's QB, Dalton Reed, will move over from WR for the start.
