Newport's offense started out slow in the 1st quarter of the scrimmage but turned it on after that. Newport's running and passing started to look strong with #10 throwing some good passes to #7 #5 #4 and #9. Saw some good runs out of #22 #25 and #10 as well. Newport's defense looked solid after the 1st quarter as well. Coach Rice has a great impact on the team - the players are pulling together and realizing that they can be dominate and what really amazes me is the pride that Coach Rice has bought back to the team.

Ludlow started out solid and overall IMO looked like they can have a good season in the Class A this season. Ludlow had a good running attack and their defense looked like they can be solid.

Offensively Newport didnt look to bad given that their starting QB didnt play because of stitches in his chin. He should be back next week.

Outside of the first drive of the game the D looked solid as well. They missed a lot of tackles on that first drive and Ludlow really gashed them in the run game.

Think Newport had 3 scores to Ludlow's one. Ludlow should definently be able to compete in 1A.

I am pretty sure 2 of the scores for Newport though came against the JV team of Ludlow's. When it was the Varsity teams in there, both teams only scored one touchdown.
