Argus Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Well i'm selling my wow account. With the money i'm going to invest in a wii and ps3 (heh i'll still have some left over too). Probably not the smartest investment, but oh well. I can get less addicted to consoles than this godless computer game. For you Wii and PS3 owners, what would be some worthwhile games to pick up? I'm going to look for online play on the playstation. I love RPGs.. first person shooters.. most action games.. i'm not into horror though. Any thoughts?
PepRock01 Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 If you want to play an FPS in its truest form then grab one for your PC. Despite all the handicaps they give you on a console, nothing compares to using a mouse and keyboard.
dolamite Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 How are you getting enough to buy a Wii and PS3 from just selling your WOW account? Will people actually pay that much bread to invest in someones characters, and everything else that comes with it? Or am I just missing the point and your just talking about all the money you'll save not having to pay the monthly fee?
PepRock01 Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Also, for what it's worth, I was under the impression that Blizzard had cracked down on the practice of selling accounts. You aren't doing this on ebay are you?
PepRock01 Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 How much is that thing worth geesh? You'd be surprised how much those things used to go for.
formerkywrestler Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 You'd be surprised how much those things used to go for.I am shocked to think someone would pay anything....how much are they going for?
PepRock01 Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 I am shocked to think someone would pay anything....how much are they going for? No idea anymore, but it wasn't uncommon to see them sell for over $100 before Blizzard cracked down on the practice. Especially because the Koreans would just farm it all out then sell it for a big profit. Basically they would pay people to play the game and get a character geared out and at a certain level, they would then sell the account online. They could usually get away with paying the "farmer" very little. Same with buying gold(currency in game) on ebay and have them send it to your character on the server. That kind of stuff used to be rampant.

They are making money with Blizzard property essentially, without paying any kind of licensing fees and so on. All the information is stored on Blizzard's servers, so when you pay your $15 a month to access your account you don't own it you are just paying to access it. It is akin to the laws regarding the downloading of music and so on, only this is a little more clear cut.

Well right now it stands at $1220.00 But i'd like to hold out a little longer and see if I can't get 15. And it's just the account going for that much, nothing else.

You aren't doing this on ebay are you? Yeah, they've cracked down some.. The wow economy is ridiculous because (and not profiling here) there are a lot of korean "gold farmers". They sell it on their website for USD. It's illegal to sell accounts on Ebay because of the scams.
Argus Posted July 22, 2009 Author Posted July 22, 2009 My friend is actually hoping to get around 2k for his account. It's quite altogether possible.. although that's a really high amount. You level a character to 80.. and then you do all the extra stuff the game has to offer. You can buy a lvl 80 account for around $180.00 USD on the internet.. but one that has a lot of time and work into it (best gear possible, lots of gold, other various things that are sentimental or valuable to other players) can reach an incredibly high amount. If this fascinates you, or disturbs you.. this is something you should check out. http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/17/wow-character-sells-for-nearly-10-000/
