Other threads have said that Coach Ray Kues is out at Silver Grove. Who takes over and why????

Bev Smith takes over. Why? Because she is there and is probably the only one in the building with varsity coaching experience. And she probably wants it.

I would have to disagree that Bev Smith is the only person in the building with Varsity experience. Christie Gries also teaches at Silver Grove and is very well respected in the community, school and by the students. It will be said that she stopped coaching, but that had to do with the lack of interest in the girls program from the student body, not her losing interest for game. Rumor has it that she may also have been interested in the position, but feels that she would not get the support of the administration due to the fact of the way Coach Kues was treated.

 

The replacement of Coach Kues with Bev Smith has been a done deal for a while, so I would look to see her named as soon as July hits according to some in the know, but this could be just rumor????

A bit of both. I know he has a daughter who is going to be a freshman at Brossart and plays basketball. A good friend of mine said he wanted to watch her play for the next 4 years. But Silver Grove also wanted to have a coach in the building (which is understandable), so from what I've read on here, I guess that's going to be Bev Smith. Can't see the program headed into a positive direction with her at the helm, but I guess time will tell. I know from what I've been told by those in the know, that the players really like Coach Kues and didn't want him to leave.

I would agree with that. I've only known him for about four years and despite what some adults think of him, his players often feel connected. He did an admirable job at SG but there really was no place to go but up.

Any school (Brossart, SG whoever) that asks Kues to leave are out of their minds.

Some major paperwork discrepancy. Her, the AD, and Boy's coach left. The boy's coach may have left for a different reason but at the same time.

Who will be the assistant to Smith??? Schreiber?

Bev Schmith is the head coach. She'll be great. Has lots of experience and kids like her
