Kelsey Robinson, Conner Pitcher

Featured Replies

How does Kelsey not get named player of the year for the 9th by the coaches association?

Why is she not even Honorable Mention All-State?

A terrific player who, as the only Senior on the team, carried her team to the regional championship, while pitching every inning of every game.

Kelsey congratulations on a great season and good lick at Asbury next year!!!

I was a bit surprised by this as well re POY.

Kelsey is a great player and a wonderful role model for the younger players. I am surprised she did not get POY or honorable mention for All State. Kelsey should be proud of all that she accomplished this year and getting the Cougars back to state!

First of all, congratulations to Savannah Briggs...she is certainly one of the top players in the 9th region and deserving of any honors she receives.

The 9th Region only has 4 head coaches (out of 19) who have joined the Kentcuky Softball Coaches Association. Until the coaches in our region get more involved, the 9th region teams and players will never get the recognition they deserve (All state, top 25, etc.). You can check the membership numbers at:

Your right region 9 fan, Conner also did not get out of Northern Kentucky enough this year.

The coach needs to be more proactive with the press. Jeff Morgan at SK was and Kayla Morgan was all-state honorable mention. Koors is a good coach but she needs to get the word out on her players. Kelsey Robinson definetly deserved All-state honors.

SK also played Greenup, Southern, Henry, East Carter, Harrison, East Jessamine, Grayson, South Laurel, Lafayette, Scott Co, West Jessamine, Boyd, Fort Knox in the regular season and Conner only played 3 teams from KY outside of Northern Kentucky. It is easier to get those all-state votes if you have been seen.

Neither SK or Conner were elite teams, but Kelsey meant more to her team than Kayla to hers. Lets face it, this type of voting along with the Enquirer weekly polls and votes, conference voting, etc. is all political and popularity contests based on name recognition and who's been playing longest.

I agree that this stuff is mostly political. What do you base Kelsey being more important to her team on?

There is NO doubt it is political. Some coaches will not vote for players if they do not like the coach of that team.

Take Amber Janneck from Boone a few years back. One of the best players in the state and rarely got 9 th region recognition. She did get state recognition. I believe one year she was voted for the state teams and did not make the 9 th region teams.

She set the SEC freshman record for home runs at UK.

IMO - I just think Kayla had a better supporting cast at SK.

IMO- there really is not much difference in the value they had to their team or their supporting casts. The difference is one player had better stats in every pitching category except walks, every offensive category, and played outside of Northern Kentucky more often.

Who is getting the Boone job? How about Coach Fookes hubby he'd be good
