I've seen you make this point many times, LN. I agree that there was a drop off in talent among the players that Brossart and his staff chose to put on the field last year. However, there was a tremendous amount of talent on the sidelines who should get their opportunity this year.

 

 

 

Clyde is right. Time to move on. Wirth is a very good coach and has the kids enthusiastic about football. That's all the matters.

 

But I do want to address something. While you are correct that I have made the point many times, at no time did I intend to belittle any kids on the CovCath squad. Heck, it's easy to play a sport, to subject yourself to year around training, to practice in heat, etc. etc. when you are a very talented athlete. I've always admired the less talented kids that put themselves through every thing it takes to play football and become good high school football players (probably because I wasn't very athletically talented myself). I only pointed it out because I thought the rather strong critics of Brossart and his staff needed to be fair and acknowledge what I thought and think was a fact which affected the outcome of the games more so that the quality of CovCath coaching. I have a lot of respect for CovCath and know a lot of parents of the kids at CovCath. I can assure you my comments were not meant to be disrespectful. Heck, Van Sant was "my' Player of the Year last year in N. Ky had I been able to vote.
