No, as much as you don't want to admit it, most kids that aren't lifelong UK fans, don't know or care about UK's history or tradition. What in the world are you talking about that Kentucky being Kentucky is what gets them to the NBA? What gets players to the NBA is their god-given skills, their hard-work, and the coaching the receive. Not the name of the college they attend.

Seriously, if UK didn't have Pitino, you think guys like Delk, Walker, Mercer, Anderson, etc., would have came to UK? It has almost everything to do with the coach, and very little, if anything to do with the actual school.

The name Kentucky still has a lot of weight in kids decisions. And will become bigger very soon. But the coach sells the program. So its a mix of both.

What I meant by this was that by these kids going to UK and having the success they had there propeled them to the NBA. Yes obviously the coach had something to do with it though, but the coach sells the program to recruits which gets them there and causes success.
