Congrats to Mitch, he is a great player and a great kid.

I was kind of hoping that the KHSAA might have done the right thing and granted Mitch an additional year of eligibility, seeing how he virtually lost his entire senior hoops season and missed a large portion of his academic school year due to his ill health.

 

It certainly wouldn't have been unprecedented. Kim Warfield blew out her knee prior to her senior season at Conner and skipped her senior year in school to recoup, and was granted an additional year of eligibility.

 

If Mitch would still be age eligible next year, I think the fact that this was certainly legitimate and wouldn't be being done to gain an athletic advantage would work in his favor.

 

From what I understand, inroads were made in that area, but the KHSAA responded negatively. Too bad! I guesss the majority of their efforts/investigations are spent legitimizing all of the illegitimate transfers.

 

Move on to Centre College and have a great college career!

 

 

That would be a shame if they applied and were denied a "red shirt" year, as he certainly had the circumstances to justify such a ruling. Regardless, congratulations to Mitch and glad to hear he'll be "landing on his feet"!! :thumb: Best of luck at Centre--They are getting a good one!!

Congrats to Mitch. Don't follow basketball and I wish him all the best. Centre is an awesome school. The BEST IN KENTUCKY. However, Mitch is playing basketball , why would you quote a historic FOOTBALL upset score against Harvard?:confused:

This is high school. Whether it is Warfield or Leffew, an extra year should never be granted. Those were both abuses of the system. What happened to Mitch was heartbreaking, but Mitch is much better served by going on and starting the next phase of his life.
