Greenup County Softball

These girls have so much talent. Unearned Runs and not hitting the ball the way we are capable is killing us. We have way too many errors.

GCHS has been in every single game but 3 that they have lost, had all of them won but 3 and we end up having one bad inning throwing the ball around, making costly errors.

Our 2 - 6 hitters are all in a slump, big time, since they came back from Louisville they have only had a couple of games where they have hit the ball the way they are capable.

It is a very frustating season for GCHS softball at this point but I have faith that these girls will turn it around, come together and win the district tourney and make a run in the regionals, they do have the talent to do so.

We Started hitting the ball this weekend, beat Ironton 4-3 and Notre Dame 4-1.

Got Boyd Monday, Fleming on Tuesday (away) and Raceland on Thursday for Senior Night. Let's hope the momentum swings through the week...

Mother nature might win on Monday and Tuesday, I heard rain is coming.

Looking like the rain is going to get us today....

What about those Lady Musketeers!?! GCHS 3 Fleming 0

We have Raceland at home for Senior Day on Thursday, let's get a big crowd out to support our ladies...

How do the ladies rank in the district?

I just heard that the Raceland Rams girls beat Greenup 3-2!!!

Greenup County went back to not hitting the ball again, Raceland 3 GCHS 2.

The ladies have 1 win and 2 losses, one against Raceland and one against Russell.

The team is right now 7-11 with all but 4 of those losses by 2 runs or less.

If we can get the bats going, it will be tough to beat them but as long as we don't hit the ball we are not going to win.

We have a lot of talent and the coaching staff is doing an excellent job with the ladies. If we would have had these coaches the past 2 years, well the difference would be amazing.

We have two games across the river tomorrow, we will keep you posted on how the ladies do...

I hear the Greenup JV are pretty good. I guess the future looks bright in Lloyd.

With the current coaching staff staying in tact GCHS will be a force to be reckoned with in the years to come. The talent is there, always has been, and now GCHS has the coaching staff to do the job to get them to the next level.

My dad (Mike Johnson) organized the softball program and was the first coach at GC Softball. In 1985, GC was the only area High School softball team. The following year, Russell started a team and it has expanded to it's current format. Back then, the district was Sheldon Clark, Morgan County and teams in that area. It was a heck of a drive for district games and the post season. I believe the record of the team in their first 5 years of existence was 127-25 and 2 or 3 regional championships. after 5 years of success, dad gave up the team due to his mother's battle with ovarian cancer. As you say, Recpark, the talent has always been there and they just need to continue to have the fundamentals taught.
