Western Hills always seems to play their worst game of the year when they play Franklin County. Wonder why that is?

This Hills team is a different team from previous years, they had one bad game out of their first ten it happens. It just happened to be against County look for a better game next wednesday.

It should be a better game but I would guess a final of 4-1 in FC's favor if Riddle and Thompson both pitch. FC's score will be much lower but it should still be enough to beat Western Hills with Thompson at the mound.

From what I have heard it sounds like it didn't matter who pitched for Western Hills. When you commit six errors and score zero runs, pitching should not be your concern.

Of course it matters who pitched. Teams play with much more confidence whent the ace is on the mound. There would have been more strikeouts, the balls aren't hit as hard, etc. Not saying that this would gaurantee a victory but I would be confident to say that a 10 spot would not have been put up in the first.

More confidence, sure. But from what I heard Franklin County only hit one or two balls hard all game. They just had ground balls go through the infield, and when they didn't get through the infield, Western Hills made an error or threw it away. Would Riddle on the mound make a difference? No doubt about it. However, when you commit six errors and score 0 runs you obviously have more important things to worry about.

County hit more than 1 or 2 balls hard. The score was 4 or 5 - 0 before Hills ever committed an error.

Not sure. Just going by what I heard, which was that Franklin County hit a lot of ground balls through the infield... I guess they could have been hard ground balls. I also heard Western Hills' second basemen had a potential double play the third batter of the game, tagged the runner going to second and overthrew first base. Pretty impressive that Franklin County scored four or five runs with three batters. I heard that play seem to set the tone for the entire game.

Since it sounds like you were at the game, would Riddle have made a difference had he pitched?

My only point is that if you have a dominant pitcher on the mound there are a lot less outs that a team has to make plays on because of strikeouts. If Riddle strikes out 2 batters in the first you only have one out to make. There are tons of factors that change when you have an ace type pitcher on the mound. Which was the main factor for Franklin County. They throw their ace and completely shut down Western Hills.

With the way the defense played Riddle probaly wouldn't have made a difference. County didn't hit very solid in the first inning.

If you make contact there is always a chance of getting on base especially with the overall team speed of the Flyers.
