Thanks coop and 27 for the clarifications. I also thought that the umpires did a nice job in the game; although I've been to (only) 2 games now and there seems to be a VERY low strike zone.

 

 

I think that is great and about time! Pitchers need to live down there, and if you force them to come up in the strike zone they have no chance

A low strike zone doesn't bother me as long as the umpire is consistent throughout the game. This way hitters know where the strike zone is and Pitchers can select pitches based on the current strike zone of the day!

 

Agreed, and it shouldn't take long for hitters, pitchers and coaches to figure it out.
