If your school had to change from their current offense to a new offensive philosophy, what would it be, and why? This could be a very educational thread.

 

I, as well as anyone who knows much about football, realize that you have to have an offense that fits your personal, and we all know that any good offense is adjustable to the personnel that you have in any given year. So, lets keep the blanket terms like, "an offense that fits my personal" and the like out of the equation.

 

Any offense, old, new, or hybrid. You are the coach and you can choose any offense you like. Tell us what it is, and why.

With younger players and very few teams having a good sized offensive line year in and year out I believe I would implement something that uses a lot of shotgun, single back, slots, tights, just a lot of versatility. Something like the old Syracuse pro style, just not near as complicated. Keep a defense on it's heels. Just my opinion.

For some smaller schools, I would like to see the use of a true double wing system. It really lends itself well to eliminating the need for a large line, you don't need one stud running back, and more kids get a chance to run the ball. Plus, I love the ground and pound philosophy of a run heavy offense that focuses on controlling the ball and the clock. Come on 1A football!!! Look at the success that Estill county had with this system (which to my knowledge they will not be doing now with the new coach). Get those splits tight and play football in a phone booth!!!

:ylsuper: :thumb: Agree 100%. Also, there are so many things you can do out of tight sets. Counters, slants, boots etc. Can be very effective!
