Ram Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 What does Boyd County need to do to improve in 2009? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.
friedtaters Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Boyd should be the favorite in their district again and I think will be improved from the team they had last year. Having the qb situation established will help along with a strong Junior class.
heath91 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 If they plan to compete with anyone, they really need to work on the basics. They need to improve their tackling and line play. You can't let your line stand straight up and expect success. Last year both the O line and D lines would stand straight up as soon as the ball was hiked. If they fix that then they'll start looking good. If they work on the arm tackles that have been a problem the last couple of years, then they would be the likely front runners in the district. If they fail to improve on these 2 areas, then it will be a long season ending with a fight for 4th.

I don't think they'll be fighting for 4th after winning the district last year, but definitely agree about the line play. That was their weakness all last season on both sides of the ball. You're exactly right that they all stand straight up as soon as the ball is snapped. It really showed when they played Ashland and all of Ashland's linemen fired off low and just whipped them. They also need to get their linemen in shape, they were in terrible shape last year. They could have a pretty darn good team if they can fix these areas.
heath91 Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 They did win the district, but this time they have to find a way to do it with out Zac. As you may remember last year, if Zac had a bad game our Lions had another loss. We still have alot of returning players this year. I hope that the added experience will help them to find ways to win with what's been lost.
