The Scribe Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Graves wins in overtime to deny Marshall County their first trip to Rupp since 1995.
sweet16 Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 (edited) Score at the end of the 1st quarter was 12-0 in Graves' favor. Graves scored the 1st basket of the 2nd quarter to go up 14-0. Then Marshall goes on a 21-3 run to take a 21-17 lead at half and then continue that run to make it 27-17, so the total run was 27-3. Marshall has a 10 point lead in the third with 3:00 to go and McKenty gets his third foul. Marshall's coach takes him out and does not put him back in until the 4th but that time Graves had caught back up and it was a dogfight after that. Not too many times a team can be on the down side of a 27-3 run and still win the game. Edited March 11, 2009 by Ram Rule 13
bugatti Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Kind of an odd season in the First Region. No team really separated themselves as "the team" to beat. I thought it was Tilghman for a while, then Calloway, then Marshall, Graves, etc. A lot of parity in far West Kentucky this season.
