Simon kenton was up 25-1 at the end of the 1st qt. Tolliver had 13 in the 1st qt,didn't play much after that.Kayla Smith had a good game did not play much.S.K. shut down Spencer Counties Kenisha Marshall pretty much the whole night.

Boy SK put this one away early. Lead by 30 at the end of the 1st Quarter. Everyone played through out the 2nd half. :dancingpa

Great job all of you! OOPS! I stand corrected PIONEER1981 is correct 25-1 (1st QTR). :isurrender:

Marshall is quite the talent for Spencer, but they simply couldn't get the ball to her tonight. SK played about as perfect a first quarter as you can play - but hitting all those threes vs. the Spencer 2-3 zone broke the Lady Bears' back early.

Kayla Smith was a non-factor in the first half, but was practically unstoppable in an impressive third quarter.

Only reason this score wasn't much worse was because SK couldn't find the basket in the second period...

Good job, SK...Spencer, congrats on what we think was your first-ever trip to the 8th Region tourney! (haven't confirmed that, but I couldn't find any evidence of Spencer in the girls' 8th region in my records, the KHSAA couldn't confirm it, and neither could the Spencer County paper...)

Kayla Smith was in foul trouble the first half. Interesting reunion for Tolliver, Smith, and the Figgins to get to play on the same floor again with Spencer County's Ashley Wiley. The four played with Wiley in a booster league when they were 9. That's right, Wiley is from Independence and she could have been a Pioneer if she had stayed in the area. Now that could have been interesting!

I think that they went to the region tourney back in either 2001 or 2002 -that was the year they went 6-0 in district play when they were with the Buillit Co schools- they switched districts when Bullit moved to the 6th region. I think they lost the district final but still went to region - they had a 8th grader who ended up at Mercy - Jordan ?? - anyway, I do think that they went then.

Just looked it up and Spencer went to the region tourney back in 2002 - lost to Shelby Co in the first round - held at Bullit Central that year.

Where'd you find it, Crazy8s? The folks at Spencer County didn't even remember this...

(my kids say I'm old, so that's my excuse.)

go to khsaa website:

http://scoreboard.12dt.com/scoreboard/khsaa/kygbk08

Select spencer county for the school and scroll to the 8th region tourney - their game against SK results - within that you will see 2002 bracket with results - you can do this for district play as well.

Hope that works - you're not old, you are experienced......ha

Apparently some short memories for fans of the Bears.

That's where I pull a lot of my info from; but I didn't go there because I couldn't remember Spencer in the region this decade...and I was trusting my memory regarding those years.

So much for doing that again...what were we talking about? :ohbrother:
