16th Region - Is 3 the magic number?

Featured Replies

Wow, sounds like some great basketball games from the 16th region, with 3 being the magic number for some.

Raceland (68)/Rose Hill (65)

Menifee Co. (65)/Russell (62)

Greenup Co. (58)/Fairview (55)

Lewis Co. (56)/Rowan Co. (53)

And Morgan Co (61) over out of region Montgomery Co. (51) going into OT with last second shot!

Congratulations to all teams on what, by the numbers, looks like some close action.

Looks like March is roaring in !!!! (pun intended)

There are going to be some very exciting 16th region basketball games in the coming weeks. The only problem is that none of the exciting games will have any impact on teams going to the state tournament. Elliott County is far above the rest of the pack. All the exciting games will be just to see who gets to say "good game" to Elliott in the 16th region finals.

And you know, that's not a bad thing...this is the first time in a while that the 16th region actually has a team capable of winning the state tournament. It's been good to see a team from around here do so well.

Elliott is the favorite, but if you watched KY hoops long enough you know anything is possible. As Dale always posts anybody can win on a certain night. Just ask Rowan girls, who people thought were invincible in region. Elliott boys and Rowan girls are great but can be beat if not on their game.

Should be a fun postseason.

Look @ Russell two years ago. They were almost a lock to win the region when Vanhoose blew out his knee in the 63rd District Tournament. They had already beaten Elliott Co twice in the regular season. Most of us know, nothing is a given.

Great post!:thumb:

I agree anything can happen and if West or someone had a great game they might be able to take down Elliott. However this years Elliott County is far better then the 2006-2007 Russell team. I know your going to say that Elliott has the same team as they did then, but they are much better now as seniors and if one player went down like Vanhoose did, Elliott still has enough fire power to get out of this region without a key player. Yes Russell did beat Elliott twice in 06-07 but they were both within 10 points, and Elliott was a better team at the end of the season then Russell, with or without Vanhoose.

I can agree with you on the first point that they are better.(Far better? We'll never know.)

I agree with you on the second point.

I'll have to disagree on the third, and again, we'll never know.

Your right we will never know; I guess thats were facts end and opinions begin.
