Ethon Spurlin shows why he is the best in the 12th region by putting up 32 big ones tonight.

I tunned in late if anyone has any details of the first three and a halve quarters, please give details.

Preston had 30 for Garrard Co. tonight. One heck of a game for this young man tonight.

Garrard was up 14 to 12 at the end of the first quarter.

 

Lincoln took a 2 point lead into half time...

 

I am unsure of the third quarter score it was close maybe tied...

 

Then Lincoln pulls away for the 61 to 50 victory.

 

Evan Preston put on a 1st half show and finished with 30 points for Garrard.

 

But It was the Ethan Spurlin Show in the second half. He finished with 32 points and another double figure rebounding night to show everyone in the 12th region who the player of the year is.

 

Edgington chipped in with 8 points

Long had 5 points

Gilbert had 8 points

& Allison had 8 points and I know atleast 10 boards.

 

It was a great hard fought game from start to finish.

 

Garrard Co. kids played hard and so did Lincoln Co's...

These were the two best teams in the 12th Region going at it tonight. Garrard tied the game at 38-38 late in the third quarter, but Spurlin buried a huge three at the buzzer to give Lincoln a three point lead heading into the fourth quarter.

 

I really thought that if Garrard could take the lead, they could win the ball game. Unfortunately, the Lions just couldn't get over the hump. Lincoln extended the lead to five and it stayed there the rest of the quarter. Also, the eleven point margin is a bit deceiving; Lincoln did a nice job of making foul shots late. This was pretty much a 3-5 point game the entire night.

 

Spurlin was fantastic tonight. He did a much better job of attacking the basket than he did in Lancaster. All of the Lincoln kids rebounded well, which likely was the undoing of Garrard.

 

Preston was tremendous tonight, as well. Thirty huge points, and he carried the Lions all evening. Garrard didn't get enough out of Tyler Woods, and Hunter Hensley and Trent Prather hardly contributed anything on offense. Just a few points here and there and maybe the Lions win.

 

All in all, a great game. I think these two might meet up again in the district finals and perhaps regional finals. Great game.

Also, there were two coaches from Union College who sat in front of me this evening at the game. Needless to say, they were quite impressed with several kids on both sides.

How could I forget... Spurlin hit a 3 pointer at the buzzer at the end of the 3rd quarter to put the Patriots up by 3.

Skyler Gilbert hit a 3 pointer to put the Pats up by 7 with 1:45 left on the clock. That sealed the game for the Patriots.

 

They really didn't hit all their free throws in the last minute and a half. Spurlin missed the front end of the 1 and 1, Gilbert was 2 for 2, Allison went 2 for 2, & Edgington was 2 for 4.

 

6 for 9 and one on the table isn't that great for a normally good free throw shooting team in the clutch. (I was still nervous).

I would more than agree. I will be very disapointed if we don't see two more matchups this season.:ohbrother: They should be fun! win or lose, I had more fun at that game than I have all year long.:thumb:

Preston had all 14 1st quarter points, and Spurlin had 20 at the half. Two outstanding performances by these two kids.

 

LC stays undefeated at home, and avenged their most lopsided 12th region defeat in 3 years. The Pats are tough to beat at home.

 

These two could easily meet two more times. Now LC needs to take care of business next Friday and Saturday and get the 1 seed wrapped up.

Where are the district and regional tournaments played? Looks like the home team will be a lock.
