George Rogers Clark 65 Ashland 54

Oh I beg to differ on the Elliott Co. remark by old shooter. I was disapponted that match didn't occur. A team can only improve when they play better competition. Certanly Elliott would have been dominant. Dodging bullits is not what Ashland is all about. We are definitely in a rebuilding phase and it will be a couple of years before we pull out of this slump.

Surprising score & the fact the game was as close throughout as some of you have mentioned. Even considering the fact that GRC just came off the big emotional win over Mason I would have though they would have maintained a larger lead throughout & won by more considering how APB is struggling. Shows the marks of a good team to come back so soon & win on the road like this after their big win against Mason. Congrats to the Cards.

Actually Clark Co. didn't have as easy a time as some posters think. I didn't expect Ashland to win but Clark didn't look overly outstanding and they wouldn't have won Mason if not for the stupid last second foul by the Mason Co. player. No disrespect to their team or coach. They are a very solid team but I was not as impressed as I thought I would be. Clearly they were more athletic than Ashland but Ashland never quit and once again, if you were there, you would have seen how easily this could have been an upset.

I know you are not. That is your opinion and I respect that. I agree it could have been an upset. If it had happened, you just learn from it and move on to the next.

Wish nothing but the best for Coach Biggs and the Tomcats.:thumb:

I will say one thing that concerns me about Ashland. I watched the JV game all the way through this time and the problem in our future lies in the guard play. Those young men need to improve their game tremendously if they are going to be of any help in the future. Going down the floor with heads down and not seeing the floor is a problem. There were men open under the basket numerous times but guards either didnt see it or refused to get the ball to them. I saw many shooting "hero" shots that weren't falling when they should have been looking for the open man. Just my opinion.

Way to go Ryan Bonner 1000 pts and counting.:banana::banana::dancingpa:jump::dancingpa:jump::banana:

I wouldnt be to concerned if I were you because before most of the JV kids play V they either leave or change postions or some new ones transfers in or some old ones transfers back.Things have a way of changing alot from JV to V at Ashland. So dont worry to much because one thing you can count on things will change alot after this year.:thumb:

zb23 you are probably correct but I don't think that will be the case in this next year. Ear to ground and close to the source here. There may be some minor changes as with every team. However, there are no major ones in the near future.

And yes, NICE JOB BONNER. He is an exceptional young man with a great set of support parents! Best of luck to him in his future as an EKU gridman!

I really knew what you meant, Old Shooter. I was referring more to the fact Ashland has been known to not want to play a team in their region when they know they probably won't win. Kind of like in the Rose Hill/Mayo days. Elliott plays, up or down.

Sometimes ADs make decisions that teams and coaches don't necessarily agree with. I'm certain at that time there was a bit of a grudge going on in the choice to eliminate Rose Hill. Basically making a statement not a choice out of fear of losing.

I think you will see some kids return to basketball next year who sat out after football this that will change somethings up some. And as for major changes I guess we will all have to wait and see what the future holds.

Well yes its been said that Sam Hunter and Wes Griffith will be returning. IMO Hunter is best at Baseball and Football and should concentrate on those areas to insure his future with scholarships. Running the added risk of injury in basketball probably wouldn't be worth it in his case. Also, with Will Skaggs having the point guard podition sealed (and rightfully so) Hunter who is used to being top dog (instant gratification) in everything he does would most likely have to wait his turn. Griffith would be a much needed addition. Have also heard that Dominique DeMartino may return for his senior year, but with his football injuries, who knows?

I agree with your first two statements but your third is a bit off the mark. The AD's avoidance policy continues unabated at as many levels as he can apply it. It sure won't change in the next 3-4 years.

You are right on target, 3-peat and we all know it.

As for the EC game, Ashland dodged rescheduling it.

Clark County was impressive because it won by double figures when all the cards were stacked against it.

Next year you will need Dominique Wilkens.:thumb:

I believe I have already established my opinion that Ashland is in a rebuilding process and will have a tough time for a couple of years. I applaud them for going with the young men they have and I support them win or lose. I don't know that snide comments are warranted.

It's a bit late in the season to be rescheduling games. However, I don't make the AD decisions. Personally I would have liked the T-Cats to have had the opportunity to play one of the best.
