January 17, 200917 yr You said it... not me. It's ok that we disagree on K-thorpe. We can both be UofL fans and not agree. BTW, I don't care whose fault it is. 4 def. co's in 2 years is pathetic. Since it isn't Krag's fault, whose is it? Let me guess, Petrino. Let's see....Krag's tries to keep everything together and goes with Cassity in year one and that's a debacle. They bring in English and things seem to improve immediately, yet they are so thin that they run out of gas in almost every big game....English gets a head coaching gig, a year before most of us felt he would. No brainer for him....they promote Miller, which seemed to be a real winner, but the pressure of wanting to be home with an ailing father, coupled with a job opportunity, and he leaves. That one hurt bad, but again, I understand completely...now they have somebody they seem to believe in. Let me make this clear, I am not happy with the current state of affairs, but given the circumstances, I am not willing to jump ship on my support of Kragthorpe. At least not yet. When he is fully staffed and stocked with kids, then we'll see.
January 17, 200917 yr Except he's relying far too heavily on JUCOs to stop gap anything long term... Again, I don't like to rely so heavily on the juco front. But, when you are so depleted in the upcoming senior and junior classes, you need able bodies to see the field now....I imagine they'll bring in another couple juco's next year, and then go the more traditional route in the years to come.
January 17, 200917 yr Author Cassity was the savior, the season before. Everyone knew English was using UofL as a stepping stone, Miller seems to have good reasoning and the latest hire is yet to be determined. Honestly, his resume isn't very impressive. How many years do you think Krag's needs? I respect your loyalty to the program, and I am usually the same kind of fan. However, in this case I just don't think Kragthorpe is the man for the job. That's enough bickering about Kragthorpe. We're UofL fans, we got to stick together. There isn't enough of us to being disagreeing. LOL
January 17, 200917 yr ^ hahaha... I really think it became evident, after seeing Cassity's defense perform (if you can call it that), that the year before when he was co-DC with Wolthausen that there may have been something different going on.... In the end we are both U of L fans, and that's all that really matters...regardless of who is the coach right now, the program is going to struggle for a little while, hopefully it will turn around soon rather than later.
January 17, 200917 yr Again, I don't like to rely so heavily on the juco front. But, when you are so depleted in the upcoming senior and junior classes, you need able bodies to see the field now....I imagine they'll bring in another couple juco's next year, and then go the more traditional route in the years to come. He went very heavy JUCO last year. If he went the other way there would be a lot more stability to the foundation. You only get 25 kids a year and this is the second time he's going to be around 25-30% JUCOs if not more. That's not good at all for the stability going forward. As for it being a short term thing, his resume says otherwise...
January 17, 200917 yr ^ Like I said, I am not found of a large number of juco's, but I have to side with them, if that's what the staff feels they need to get support right now.
