Franklin showed tremendous character and - particularly Decker - poise late in the game when South pushed ahead by 5 and seemed in control.

But South took some quick shots out of the offense and Franklin (finally) hit some FTs to put them back in the game and then, over the hump.

Franklin led by as much as 10 in the close contest (in the first half) and South led by as much as 5 (in the fourth quarter)...

Lady Flyers have to shoot FTs better...just 13 of 29... 60% for the season...and for a big team, they'll have to rebound better than they did against South. The only outrebounded the younger, smaller Lady Dragons by 2 (unofficial).

Craig is unbelievably strong - they have to get her the ball more. Decker is a player...unfortunately for Franklin County, just when they were establishing their big lead in the first half - and when they might have landed a knockout punch - she had to go to the bench with two fouls.

South is still learning about itself...poor shooting (31%) plagued the Lady Dragons tonight. They shot FTs well, though (10 of 12). And the Lady Dragons will undoubtedly have to develop a better inside game - too many entry passes dropped / turned over - if they want to beat a Franklin County.

Still, I continue to be impressed by South. Coach Frank Wright is playing all eleven players in every game...and that means a lot of PT for the 5 freshmen. The only player who has missed a game for South this year is a girl who missed two games with a minor injury. With two minutes to play last night, and the game on the line, South had two freshmen on the court... This will pay off big time in late February / early March.

Both teams will be much better at the end of the year, and could contend in their regions.

Agree with all Colonel Mike's observations on the game last night. Franklin Co. was a very nice team, well coached and discilpined. Although South got killed on the offensive boards all night, they were at times getting 4 or 5 put backs, they were competitive and in a position to win the game in the 4th quarter. Several quick shots really hurt them down the stretch along with some costly late turnovers. The ability to finish when it counts will be something that they will need to improve on to win games against quality opppnents. As for player rotation, they are playing all 11 but there are some deficiencies that at times.
