I guess I could have used liberties with the word beat as a reporter could have used liberties with the word punish.

Where does it say Jesus took "whips" to the moneychangers in the temple? In the several different versions I have of the bible...he overturned their tables and said that his house should be a place of prayer not commerce.

I guess I always assumed that you make whips and drove people with, assuming, the whips, than you probably ended up whipping someone.

Pure, I will ask you the same question I posed earlier.

 

If I am not Jesus and cannot call out someone for sin why I am supposed to be like Jesus and love others?

 

Is it okay to love others because that is what Jesus did and is a warm fuzzy?

But not okay to call out others on sin from what Jesus did because that doesn't make us feel all warm and fuzzy?

I would say it might be the sound of the whip..that would drive me out of the Temple. Lets research it with some brothers/sisters and see what they might say. I just can't seeing Jesus beating anyone and to be honest even in the movies never saw it.

 

I asked for the movie the Gospel of John for Christmas so maybe I'll get it and check it out.

And she rejected it and the church feeling that her salvation might be endangered, assuming they believe you can lose your salvation, went to the next step.

 

If they simply let her leave with no further statement what does that say to HER children and other youth on the importance of repenting from sin?

 

As long as you are not a member of our church and tithing, we don't care if your eternal soul is in danger or not? What an unloving church that would be.

 

1. Continue the private method. I can't see any situation ever where public method could be successful. If anything, continuing to do it in private could open the lady up to how much people really care for her. Sometimes, immediate conversion and change doesn't happen- it is about planting a seed.

 

2 and 3. I agree that just cause she leaves does not mean she should be ignored, but it could get to be borderline harassment. I don't think the church needs to make a statement specifically pertaining to the woman's sins.
