Isn't Downing the point guard? I would think they would use Barner, Pawsatt or Setty to guard a forward. Who guards Conner inside for Mason?

 

Downing is listed as a guard, but he usually defends the other teams best player. He plays in the post alot and is one of the best defenders in the state.

 

This should be a good test for the Royals. Franklin Co. is a good team.

I wish I had your confidence, but there won't be many "gimmes" on the Royals schedule this year.

What does Franklin County have coming back from last year's team that lost by 5 to Scott County in the first round of the Regional tournament? Strengths and weaknesses?

 

They have everyone back from last year. They had no seniors on that team.

It is hard to key on anyone from Franklin County. Everyone can score. They seldom have anyone score 20, but they usually have several in double figures. It will be interesting. Franklin County is still working in to the season, and they have been playing 10 and 11 deep so far. It seems Mason is already in mid-season form, so this will be a big test for the Flyers. I would not expect a high-scoring game as both teams seem to play tough defense. I think turnovers will be the key to winning in a slugfest.

I was shocked too when I saw the results of the poll. This should be a great game. I feel that both teams are flying under the radar to many posters here on BGP. Both teams have my respect and are teams I would not want to face in post season play.

I doubt either team will understimate the other as the seniors on each team have faced off many times over the years on AAU teams. I know that some of these matchups go back as far as 4th grade. My guess is there is mutual respect.

I don't question that both teams respect each other. My point was that many posters on here are not giving either team the respect that they deserve.

Not that it matters but i believe these 2 split a game each in summer ball this past summer,Should be a good one.

I know Mason lost alot from last years state championship team, but they still have Middleton who is one of the best in the state, and probably the best player in the 10th. The Downing kid is a very good player as well, and I believe he can score. Scoring was just not his primary role last season. I also know that they have some very good young players that will get better with each game. In my mind they are definately a contender in the 10th.
