Sorry for the problems, folks... I was sending our feed to some radio stations in Etown, and they told us about the computer problems.

 

I send my signals to an outfit out of Ohio, and they stream the signal to the internet from their mainframe. Not sure what their issues were. In the pressbox, I'm oblivious to any difficulties...

 

Of course, I should have known it would be an interesting night for my broadcast...they hooked up space heaters in the press box and flipped some breakers, and when I went to start my broadcast, we found we had no power to my mixer and the broadcast start got delayed while we raced to re-hook to an outlet with power.

 

Great game. Four turnovers killed North. Twice the Mustangs had the ball with a 14-7 lead in the first half with chances to move ahead by two scores - once inside the Etown 40 - and both times they lost it on turnovers (tipped ball INT and a fumble). The Mustangs had every opportunity to be ahead, 28-7, at the break (the way they were moving the ball)... instead, Etown's TD just before the half was huge, tying it at 14.

 

It was anyone's ballgame throughout the second half...Elizabethtown couldn't stop the NO running game, despite the fact that the starting AND backup NO fullbacks were out. North rushed for over 300 yards in the loss...on the other hand, Elizabethtown did very well through the air, and North got very little pressure on Thomas.

 

North covered Gohmann pretty well, holding him to 3 catches (according to my color commentator's stats), but Deneen had 9 catches.

 

Down 35-28, North had a great drive going late, pushing all the way inside the Etown 20. They called a pass play that - had the pass been completed - probably would have gone for 6, but the pass was just a hair off, and the defender made a great break on the ball to get the INT.

 

Final score was somewhat meaningless; Etown trying to get one first down to ensure they could kill the clock; North committing almost all eleven defenders to try to get the ball back; Deneen caught the pass maybe seven yards beyond the line of scrimmage and found himself behind everyone, racing 74 yards for the score for the final 42-28 score.

 

Thomas was very impressive passing, hitting his receivers in stride. But the Panthers will probably have to have better success running the ball if they hope to upset Central next week.

 

Congrats to the Panthers on an impressive effort, and to the Mustangs on their best-season ever.
