The entire section you are quoting is instructions to missionaries/evangelists.

 

But lets say you are correct, I will concede the scripture interpretation. We spend .087 of the federal budget on non-Soc. Sec. and non-medicaid aid. What percentage of people receiving the .087 do you think is undeserving, and how to you make that judgment.

 

Isn't that what the Great Commission called EVERY Christian to be?

I think the church needs to do much, much more in all communities. You will get zero argument from me on that point. I think Jesus wants His Church to be doing it and not the USA government.

Giving to the government for them to dole out is not Scriptural giving.

 

I don't give to the gov't. They take from me.

I don't believe those that do those things are morally or ethically better than those that do not...

 

If you see a "need", or know that someone is hungry, hurting, suffering and refuse to help...then yes you are morally and ethically "worse" than the one who helps! Apathy and moral bankruptcy is a large part of what is wrong with the US today.
