November 16, 200817 yr A great football coach blames this on video games. He calls this generation the "reset" generation. If the game doesnt start of well for you, reach over and hit reset until you get it the way you want it. He says that this carries over when kids give up on tasks rather than finishing. Teachers are trained to dignify every student answer regardless of accuracy. When I came through school and gave an incorrect answer, the teacher said you are WRONG! Then you did it again until you got it right! The last thing in my rant is a point I think that fits this discussion. The practice of "participation" awards and trophies. Kids are started very early getting awards for simply breathing. Everyone on a team gets a trophy, every student gets a smiley face, etc. I think this will hurt American society in the future. There are losses in life. We are not always correct. Our way of doing things may not always be the best. I just dont know if kids see these things anymore and its not their fault. They are taught from the time they are born that the planets revolve around them, not the other way. There's my rant for the month!
