Who has the Highlands / Bryan Station Game?:bunny:

I wanted to get that game since I have seen Highlands in person but some kid that said he was from Highlands. For the most part, there was someone from about half the NKY schools that are participating in the playoffs in the class and they got the school they went to.

Okay so I had the class today and we put our stories together. My professor had two of her students from a multimedia class come in and show us how to post the stories to this certain website that she wanted us to post them on.

Well to make a long story short, this one idiot said he "knows high school football" and then proceeded to make an idiot out of himself. I hear him talking to one of my classmates about Covington Catholic. He said (and I'm paraphrasing here) "I think this system is messed up here in Kentucky. How can a team lose their first round game last week to Louisville St. Xavier and still be in the playoffs?"

Folks, I kid you not when I say that he truely said that out loud. It was so hideously wrong that it didn't deserve my response. I barely got my story finished cause I had people that sort of put two and two together and knew that he didn't know anything so they came to me with questions. One girls that was doing the Ludlow/Eminence game (she graduated from Eminence so thats why she chose that game) asked him if he knew what Ludlow's mascot was. It's an honest question that some might not know so he was trying to find out and I just blurted out, "Hey Katie, Ludlow is nicknamed the Panthers." She responded with a thank you and his responce to me was him looking over to where I was and rolling his eyes making a "who cares" wave/gesture sort of move with his hand.

I swear that some people think they know everything and when they're proved wrong, they don't want to even hear it.

Oh and this is all after saying that I didn't need to use a Beechwood helmet in my recap. This would have been fine and dandy if he would have uploaded somepictures for the northern Kentucky area teams like he was supposed to go get for us but he said he could only get Highlands and CovCath photos. How hard is it to find a picture of some of these schools? It was almost like he felt like I was trying to steal his thunder by posting a helmet .gif file in my recap.

Oh well....enough of my rant. I need to go into the story and edit a few things before I submit it.

Update:

I don't know if mine or anyone else in my class will have anything published but if mine doesn't, I don't see how some others do. I am going to message each person that I see their name attached to each story and give them my input as to some errors that I have noticed. I give some of them credit for attemoting to write about something that they really didn't know much about.

Some a really, really bad but others have the makings of a semi-decent preview....just need to make some adjustments....but that's why we're not paid journalists and are learning the craft. You gotta start somewhere.

Oh that's going to make you a really popular guy!

If those people are planning on being journalists, and they can't handle that, they need to select another career path.

Oh, I wouldn't mind constructive criticism...from the instructor.

That's all fine and dandy, but it's not how the journalism world -- or journalism classes, for that matter -- works.

I had a Journalism class. Don't remember other students taking it upon themselves to "correct" my work.

So should I not help them if they ask me? Just wondering.

Not just an assignment but a class.

Sophomore year

Business Law

First day of class, teacher tells us that our ENTIRE grade will be based on 5 true and false tests.

10 questions on each.

You grade your own and tell him your grade as you leave.

I got an A.:D

That's amazing!

I wonder how he got away with it.

Oh, that's different. It just sounded like you were going to grade their work without their asking. That's why I said they might not like it too much.

Oh no. I sent everyone an email asking them to email me if they wanted me to proof it for them. They all know that I do it for NKU athletics and thought that I'd offer my services if they needed. I'm not going to say anything unless they ask me to.

You must've had some crummy classmates, or a crummy instructor. Peer review and catching/pointing out mistakes are some of the keys to a successful newspaper. In most of my classes it was either strongly encouraged or required.

I'm kind of surprised nobody has noticed this yet. I still can't over the fact that he actually said that.
