Barren County (4) at Christian County (1)

Hopkinsville (3) at Grayson County (2)

Warren Central (3) at Owensboro (2)

Ohio County (4) at Bowling Green High (1)

 

BGHS has home field throughout the Region One Playoffs.

This should be an interesting and highly competitive Region with 4 of BGP Top 10 teams residing in this Region.

Here's my prediction:

 

Christian Co., HopTown,Owensboro, and Bowling Green win the openers.

Christian co. and Owensboro win the semis.

Owensboro wins the regional.

 

Just picking teams, no real method to the madness.

I agree with most of your post, but I think BG beats Owensboro and CC wins the region.

Don't count out Hoptown just yet think they are starting to peak.

It will probably be four old and bitter rivals from the heyday of the WKC in the second round. BGHS has been playing Owensboro on and off (mostly on) since Armistice Day 1932. Hoptown and the Purples have played each other (again, mostly on) since 1927. BGHS and Christian Co had some bad blood going in the mid 1970s to early 1980s, but they played yearly from 1967 through 1982 and just a smattering of games since then. I know that Hoptown/Christian Co doesn't get the statewide recognition as a great rivalry. I know that Hoptown/Owensboro is another of the great old rivalries from the WKC. They both were major players in the WKC race from its formation in the 1920s until the 1950s (Owensboro left to join the Big Eight in 1960). For us old timers, it doesn't get any better than this...well, unless it's a state championship!
