Fort Campbell will be fine. Like Scribe said, they are coming out of a bye week and Durrante did not play once again. I'll take 400 yards rushing against the Aces defense every week.

 

I agree, OC has caused a lot of heartache for FC in the past. We are thankful for any win against them. Winning by 20 and the defense getting a shut-out is just a little extra sweet.

I agree with your assessment on several of the penalties. Fort Campbell has not lost a game since August 31, 2007, won the championship and has been ranked #1 all this season. Everybody wants to beat the champ and everybody wants to cheer for the underdog, that is human nature. It appears on many occasions that the officials get caught up in the "helping the underdog moment" and use the flag to keep games as close as possible. The Falcons realize that it is FC against the world and I think you will see less opportunity for questionable calls in the future. I expect a lot more head-bustin' and a lot less jersey-grabbing.

 

I don’t agree that the refs were “using the flag to keep games as close as possible”. Although, I have never been a referee, I think most, if not all, know what teams are rivals and are in the chase for district championships. These types of games tend to be more physical with more “attitudes” by players because of the importance of the games and the refs know this. For that reason they probably are a little quicker to throw the flags in some situations to keep the game under control. With that being said, I think FC was also rusty coming off the bye week. Either way I’m sure the coaches will emphasize corrective action this week, especially with the Trigg County game this week, another rivalry game between two good 2A teams.

Dear FC, I respect your opinion, but the reality is the state champs are held to a higher standard than Todd County, Ft. Knox, Hancock, the list goes on. It comes with the territory, but it is the cold hard truth. I have been to every game except Union County and I have 20/20 vision. It is what it is.

I guess we just have to agree to disagree. I honestly don’t believe the referees hold one team to a higher standard then another team. Maybe a few of the referees on here can provide some insight to that debate.

 

Either way, I’m sure we can agree that they need to come out this Friday and play back to form against Trigg County. :fight: Especially since they will most likely play either OC or Trigg again in four weeks.

I have known officials to form pre-conceived ideas of a given team's play habits (probably from conversation among them) and sometimes be a overly aggressive because of it, but...

 

To hold a championship team to a "higher standard"? I haven't seen that. If anything, I've seen the reverse - borderline infractions are more likely to get the benefit of doubt.

Enjoy the game with Trigg, it should be a lot of fun. Safe travels until you return home for good!! The best thing about the Falcons is we only have ten seniors on the team. Just wait until next year, as hard as it may be to imagine the Falcons will be even better. You hopefully will be able to catch all of next season - the best is yet to come!!

It appears that the same flag-happy officiating crew that called the FC - O Cath game will be back for FC - Trigg tomorrow. Tomorrow will be Fort Campbell's 4th home game and three of the four games will have been officiated by the same crew.

Questions for Scribe: Is this the standard officiating assignment scenario for games from border to border in the State? Are there not enough crews to get a crew with a "fresh vision" scheduled for a FC home game? What am I missing here?
