Kentucky Basketball - Where Are They Now?

Featured Replies

I was looking around on the Internet and discovered a few of the former Cats playing around the world.

The biggest shock of all - Sheray Thomas is averaging 16 PPG in Switzerland :scared: :

Gerald Fitch is in Italy.

Heshimu Evans and Scott Padgett are both in Spain.

Of course, we also have the group that is still floating around the NBA - Prince, Bogans, Mohammed, Azubuike, Walker, Rondo, Crawford, Morris, Hayes, Magloire, and Anderson

Did I forget anyone?

What about Turner and Daniels?

Turner is the newest member of the East Kentucky Miners, and will be playing his home games in Pikeville.

I was wondering where he was at now. I can't find anything about Daniels or Hawkins.

Whatever happened to Ron Mercer? He had a couple of years with the Bulls but I never heard much else out of him.

The wheels fell off Ron's career with either the Pacers or the Spurs... I don't remember which one off of the top of my head. He started coming off the bench on the stacked team and never quite grasped it. He was out of the league a few years later.

Wasn't he in some sort of legal trouble involving drugs or something a year or two ago? Was that him? I can't remember.

I figured it was something like that. What a shame, he was such a dominant & exciting college player.

I seem to recall a stabbing or something... I never heard all the details on that.

Per Google....(Answered my own question :p)

Ron Mercer:

On August 15, 2005, prior to the 2005-06 NBA season, Mercer was waived by the Nets to avoid the league's luxury tax as part of the new labor agreement. He has not played in the league since.

In August 2007, Mercer surrendered to police to face a misdemeanor assault charge stemming from an alleged fight at a strip club on April 21. It was claimed Mercer punched a bouncer in the face. On July 17, 2008 Mercer pled guilty and received probation for his role in the fight. The case was handled in front of Criminal Court Judge Steve Dozier with District Attorney Wesley King and Jennifer McMillen disposing of the case.

You all know why Mercer fell off, right? Started wearing the headband...
