Pulaski County 20 McCreary County 0 (JV)

Good win for the young Maroons, They have now ran off five in a row after losing their first two games of the year. Kind of the same way the varsity has done.

McCreary is going to have some rough years coming up. The varsity have won 4 games this year with Watts, but those 4 teams have a combined record of 3-21 and that says alot.

Great job young Maroons! PC forced 5 turnovers last night. I noticed Letner on the sideline limping. Is he hurt? How long is Wheeldon out w/ the leg injury? What about Abner, poor kid looked like death warmed over last night on the sideline. Is he going to be ready for Friday? I have a feeling the Pulaski team of 2007 is upon us. The team that flat got after it last year! Go get 'em guys!

Dreamland, you are certainly entitled to your opinion and I am the first person who honors everyone elses opinions and there is no way that I can say if your opinion will hold true or not. All I can say is this, we have a lot of good athletes that play football from the 2nd grade up and these athletes are now winning at every level. We don't look at the success of our jv in terms of wins and losses rather in terms of how much experience we get every player. See, we play every kid that comes to practice and this has helped our numbers tremendously and we expect to have over 50 kids next year. Once we get to a point that we have 65+ kids every year then we will raise the bar at the JV level and we should be playing a freshmen schedule at that time as well. Our opinion is that these years with Watts and Roark will only help the program at McCreary gain the confidence it needs to keep getting better and better each year after they are gone. You have to remember that McCreary has had a couple of 5-5 records over the years but there was never any building of the program. In those years some kids (under-classmen) who played on Fridays also played on Mondays in order to win games at the JV level and all that did was make kids who never got to play at all quit playing football and in return hurt the program. We believe that we are on the right track now and that we will be competitive in the toughest district in 4-A for many years to come. However, only time will tell whose opinion is correct. I am not a betting man but if I was my money would be on the Raiders all the way! Go Raiders.

Hey HouseofPain, word around the county is Watts was taken to the hospital tonight, can you tell us what is up?

Whats up with Watts. He is a very good player.

As for McCreary's team, they will struggle without Watts. Like I said above, your wins this year with Watts came from teams that have a 3-21 record, and thats from 4 teams. So your district schedule will probably show you not winning a game. How can you think you are gonna compete? I am not being mean, I just cant figure out that thought pattern after your scheduling weak 1A teams to get wins, is gonna help you?

Yea, the turnovers hurt a lot, without them I think the Raiders would have scored atleast 3 times. I hope everyone that was there agrees that this was a good ball game and very closely played. I have always enjoyed talking with the Pulaski Fans they are down to earth football people. The coaches told me that they had 29 jv players dressed and everyone got quality playing time. I say good job to the jv coaches and keep working hard young Raiders.:ylsuper:

Like I said, you are allowed your opinion and I respect it but, I think your opinion is 100% wrong. The 1st thing you have to do to be a winner is think you are a winner. McCreary has a tougher schedule over the next 2 years and if we keep progressing then we will make it stonger the next 2 years (you have to walk before you can run) that is how you build a program. Sure we could schedule Southwestern, Boyle, South laurel, Whitley Co. ect to go along with our district schedule of Bell, Rock, KC and Madison So. but all that would do is drive our program in the ground. The idea is to build the program and you do that by scheduling teams you can compete with and you throw in a few that should be wins. If you are winning all the games you should win and then win all the games you have in the could win column you toughen-up the schedule for the next 2 year cycle. I wonder if you truely believe that teams like Bell Co. became the programs they are today over night. It just doesn't happen like that. Us at McCreary think we are on the right track and believe 100% that we will only get better in the years to come!

I think you better be worried about Lincoln Co. McCreary County can take care of themselves. Good job Jv you played very well and keep up the good work!:ylsuper:

All I know right now is he cut his arm falling into a glass door and they had to rush him to the hospital. I will let you know more when I find out!

Ok we can agree to disagre.

Sorry to hear about Watts..

We will right the ship here in Lincoln,be sure of that.

My exact thoughts for the program (ship) here at McCreary!

I appreciate your concern for Aaron, he is a great athlete but also a very good young man! Hope everyone keeps him in their prayers tonight!

Maybe you will schedule us?

Maybe you will schedule us?

We have in years past. Most of the time you all whooped up on us pretty good. However, if our program gets to the level that we can compete (not necessarily win but compete) then it will be a definate possibility again.:thumb:

The biggest problem I've always seen with McCreary came at the elementary level. They've won there for years usually because McCreary always has some monster kids at that age and the offense scheme was always run it straight up the middle. I went to one game several years back where they ran qb sneak at least 15 times in an elementary game. Yes they won that game easily of one of the Laurel elementary schools if memory serves me, but they didn't learn anything. Laurel lost running counters and a few passes. The biggest thing at those age is fundamentals. I agree with House fully that winning at JV means nothing. But, I said this then about McCreary until they can get some coaches at the elementary level that teach fundamentals and do more than qb sneaks and straight up the middle runs the kids won't be prepared when they get to high school. I don't doubt the elementary coaches in McCreary care and I don't doubt that they mean well, just an observation I had a few years back.
