I agree with Ram, we need 2 or 3 threads for this one....slow, "rage-inducing", live, etc...

Alive

Animal

Not for You

Black

Long Road

Impossible to list 5, I have a 40 gig external hard drive full of every live show from the 2000 and 2003 tours. But like everyone, the list starts with Black. The best performance I have ever heard is from their Benaroya show in 2003. Eddie lets the crowd sing the last part, still gives me chills to this day and something I haven't heard in any other live performance of the song.

It's just a black screen, the audio is ripped from the Benaroya cd. Just fast forward to around the 4 minute mark.

These are some of my favorites but not exactly my top five.

Black

Given to Fly

I am Mine

Long Road

Wild eyed Crazy Mary

That could be another thread within a thread: Top 5 PJ covers:

English Beat's "Save it for Later" frequently gets played at the end of "Betterman" in live shows.

"Last Kiss" is probably the most popular due to it making it on radio.

I liked Johnny Cash's "25 Minutes" on the Benaroya Hall release.

"Baba O'Riley" is a regular in concert.

"Crown of Thorns"

And probably my favorite would be "Masters of War."

Ok, I spent a lot of time thinking about this today but a top 5 of "not so great" songs that became great in concert (or maybe just increased significantly in concert):

RVM-good song on album, maybe my favorite song in concert (see "Live at the Garden" DVD)

Do the Evolution-similar to RVM

Breakerfall and God's Dice-they sound terrible on Binaural with the background vocals but both are very good in conert

Yellow Leadbetter-two words, Mike McCready

1.Black

2.Alive

3.Yellow Led Bedder

4. Even Flow

5. Daughter or Elderly Woman Behind The Counter

They also do a great version of The Who's "The Kids Are Alright." And it's been pretty unforgettable when they do "Keep On Rockin' In The Free World."

I forgot about the Long Road, it's definitely one of my favorites. Here's Vedder and Young:

"Keep on Rockin' ..." still brings cold chills.

No love for one of the greatest lines ever in a song?

"I wish I was the full moon shining off Cousin Gary's hood ..." :ylsuper:

Wasn't it Cousin Gary's Camaros hood.

Great Line and who knows how many adult beverages were consumed that night and many others.

They, well, Eddie, led off the last Cincinnati show with "The Kids Are Alright" and I agree, "Keep on Rockin' In The Free World" is pretty good too.
