Kentucky Report: Top 35 Players in KY

Featured Replies

I'd say the the top 8 look solid:

Ricardo Johnson (Holmes)

Ge'Lawn Guyn (Scott Co)

Aaron Cosby (J'town)

Chad Jackson (Scott Co)

Dakotah Euton (Scott Co)

Shaq WIlson (Christian Co)

Josh Sewell (Trinity)

Aaron Watts (McCreary Central)

But I'd also add Elijah Pittman of Holmes in there somewhere in the 5-10 range. There's no way IMO there are 15 other JUNIORS in this state better than Pittman.

I completely agree. I really think those 8 along with Pittman are a notch above the rest, especially if your looking at it from the angle of being a college prospect. Looking at the best players right now, I would add Josh Whitaker to the top 10. I believe hes a bit underrated on this list.

Agreed. There are several players, including Whitaker, who could make a case for being #10 on this list.

As stated on the website where these rankings came from:

"The 2010 class maybe the deepest class in Kentucky history. There are over 20 kids in this class that should play high major to mid major basketball in the future."

Yes, and there will be kids who aren't currently on that list who will have that opportunity as well. We have said all along that the 2010 class is one of the strongest to come through KY and the nation.

This is the same list as it was at the end of last year. Jamal Stephenson is listed as #21 and #32 on the list. I think you will see other kids on this list that didn't have the opportunity to play much last year as sophomores. Some kids are flying under the radar and will be known after this year. The talent in Kentucky is on the rise.

I agree, IMO Pittman might end up being better than Ricardo.

At this stage Ricardo is both mentally and physically more mature than Pittman. Both are different players though so it's tough to compare them and say one will be better than the other since they have their own unique style of play.

Rico is more of a wing type player with the ability to play inside or out but prefers to drive whereas Pittman is more of a SF who prefers to play outside and has a good jumper. Pittman needs to learn to use his 6'6 frame though and play down low against smaller players.

Neither have come close to reaching their potential though and still have a lot more developing to do which is scary considering where they are now, so it's tough to really gauge at this point who will be better.

Very true, but is Pittman still growing?

Elijah's dad is 6'8 so I'd say he still has a few more inches left in him. He's right around 6'6 now so it's not a bad bet to assume he'll grow another inch or two over the next couple years.
