Sorry guys...I know it seems like only one game, but this has been brewing a while. Truth be told, I don't care for either program...I used to play against both when I played and considered them a rivalry...I just hate these ridiculous scores. What does it prove???

 

I understand about not liking the teams... have quite a few of those myself.

 

BUT... If I have my 2nd or 3rd stringers in (and someone makes this point evry week) and im running the ball, you should be able to stop that. If you can't...I'm not telling my guys to stop. On the other side of the ball, you can't help them catch passes.

If the reserves, JV and Freshman were playing for GC the second half, what do you expect them to do. When the backups are in, you can't tell them to take it easy or not try! You can't send an offensive unit out to take a knee on three straight plays and then punt so the other team can catch up. It sounds like if the GC coach didn't have some class they would have hit the century mark with ease. No WHINNING in football - there is always the band!

 

I agree totally it just happens. You can't let your younger kids go out and not try to score or get first downs come on what Come on Coach Hard.

I'm sorry, maybe I'm alone on this one. What the heck does it prove when you beat a team 70 to NOTHING!!!! I don't know either competitors in this situation, but this is CLASSLESS!!! I will say this to anyone FACE TO FACE!!! Isn't a 38-3 or 7 win just the same? I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, and I say bring it on!!! but I hate seeing these scores in high school, middle school, little league, etc. There is no place for that.

 

I can't stand this crap happening at any level. I know I haven't always spoke up about this, but there has to be something that can be done. What about the other team??? These are KIDS, not NFL players!!! They don't deserve to be humiliated...ever. If you disagree then that says enough about you as a man to me!!!

Were you at this game, to see how it was played? I've seen games, in various sports that regardless of what the winning team did, the other couldn't stop the non-starters either.

 

In games with scores like this, there are usually a combination of ability to achieve and inability to stop.

No I wasn't at the game. But I think the SemperFiFalcon nailed it. All the TDs scored by just 4 guys??? And let me clarify, I'm not saying to tell your subs not to play hard, but surely coaches know going in if it is going to get out of hand that bad. Maybe let your 3 stringers in earlier.

Just to let you know COACH HARD and SEMPERFIFALCON, there was 9 different guys that scored a touchdown or a two point conversion in this game. Those guys were:

 

Pendleton (starting QB),

Rogers (starting TB),

Garrett (starting FB),

Morgan (starting WR),

Newby (starting OLB),

Burton (starting OLB that is a Freshman),

Taylor (non-starting TB),

McDermott (freshman QB),

Romines (freshman FB).

 

As you can easily see, this is not a 4 man team and the coaches did not deliberately run the score up. If you can't stop the JV and freshmen than sorry about your luck, especially when you are still playing your own starters.

Through 6 games all of Green Co.'s TD's have been scored by only 4 players. That seems a little strange when your beating teams this bad...

4 Guys have scored all of Green Co.'s offensive TD's through 6 games... Right or wrong?

Lets get something clear. The game was over at halftime. (40-0) The Hornets had (-18) total yards in this game. The second offense was in the whole second half.:

 

Really? Is Pendleton on the JV team as well, because he was still scoring in the third Qtr wasn't he?

Listen its no big deal to me what a teams philosophy on game control is, however it is clear that Green is running it up/patting stats a little more than most teams are, and to be honest I've got no problem with it, but to deny that it's happening is wrong. For instance in Green's Blow out against Taylor Co. (78 points scored) only 4 players scored offensive TD's. In Fort Campbell's blow out against Todd Co.(70 points scored) 8 different people scored offensive TD's...

Lets see...against Taylor Co. Two of the touchdowns were scored by a freshman who plays RB and OLB. He had one rushing TD and a INT for a TD. Also the starting OLB picks up a fumble and scores, runs a kickoff back for a TD. The starting offense runs one series in the second half and the rest of the game was played by the JV and freshmen.

 

Against Metcalfe Co....the starters played one series in the second half and the remainder of the game was played by JV and freshmen. Pendleton scored the TD on the series the varsity was in during the second half. After that, there was a fumble picked up and returned for a TD by the OLB. The freshman OLB intercepted a pass and returned it for a TD (much like the game against Taylor Co.). The last two touchdowns were scored by the freshman QB on a run and the freshmen FB on a run. However, Metcalfe Co. kept their starters in and was denied on any drives by the JV defense. So not much else could be done unless you don't field a team and let them run against air...

 

I hope this answers your questions since you seemed so concerned. Green Co. is a very physical smash mouth football team and if you can't respond to the physicality of the game than you are going to be embarrased, point blank!

I'm just trying to clear the air little, for one its not true the second offense played the entire second half which you first claimed they did, and second it is true that only four players had scored offensive TD's for the Dragons (prior to this game), leading me to wonder why the other 6 RB's on Greens roster wasn't getting a chance to score, to each his own I guess... And by no means am I concerned as I said above I could care less what Green Co's philosophy is, however I do care that post are factual and not misleading... BTW good luck this week, I for one can't wait till Monroe makes the trip to Greensburg in one week, should be a good physical game...:thumb:
