Ryle's D is better than NCC's ? I guess that is why Ryle won the game . Oh wait . Ryle's D is definately better than Holy Cross's though .

 

How can you say Ryle's D is definately better than HC's?? Ncc had more trouble moving the ball against hc than they did against ryle. Ncc had the ball inside hc's 25 yard line the first two drives and hc held them to 3 points. Ncc really only had one good drive in the third quarter in which they scored a touchdown the rest of the scoring came from good field position and penalties.

Not an excuse, just a comparison for fairness, but Mark Kelly and Jake Smith were out on offense for NewCath against HC and they played against Ryle. That being said, I feel that HC is more physical on D than Ryle, just not as fast. Ryle will have to pass the ball to move it consistently against HC. The one thing that Ryle does do is rotate people very well. That may wear down HC in the late 3rd and 4th quarters.

Wouldn't that make them more tired?? If they don't rotate them then they will be tired.. Idk.. we will see..

Can't see Holy Cross' offense doing too much to Ryle's defense. Ryle's offense showed some spark against SK, especially the running game (over 200 yards). I think Ryle's overall team speed is too much for HC and wins this game fairly easily, in the 27-7 range.

 

I don't know if I think Ryle's offense actually showed some spark or if SK's defense just couldn't figure it out. Ryle ran the ball to the right, then the left... every single time you could call the play before it happened. You can't run a predictable offense and expect to win big games. After this game I have lost all faith in Coach Roedig and his ability to call plays. Ryle's success on offense is determined by the strength of the opposing defense. If HC can stop their predictable runs, Ryle may have trouble. Just hope their defense shows up like usual to bail them out.

Losing faith this fast? You have a talented Sophomore QB. Watch as the season progresses, they'll find what is comfortable for him. Each game from this season on, you will see him get more comfortable and eventually have a great command of the offense. This is a "growing pains" type year on offense for Ryle. Next year and especially the year after they will be very scary.

I haven't lost faith at all in Hempel. I don't think the players are the issue here as much as the coach in charge with the offense. There is a lot of talent on that offensive team, but unfortunately no one talented enough to call the plays. Ryle could be scary this year if you had someone like Coach Woolf on offense.

I agree. Though, during the Hockman years the offense was quite complicated, yet it garnered about the same results. A nice balance needs to be struck, and I think Ryle has it on the defensive side of the ball, but I don't know if they'll ever get the offense worked out.

Keep in mind also MLB Brad Herad (who lead NKY in tackles last year) will be back this weak.
