Trevor Wellbrock has potential. However, he's going to need to get more aggressvie and more involved. I noticed what seemed to be a passive nature at the JV level. If he can get that fire in his belly he will be a force inside.

 

I'd look for Ice to have a solid year. I've never noticed a lot of post moves but what I did notice is a propensity to use his size and strength to get offensive rebounds. His aggressiveness bodes well for him and hopefully it will rub off on Trevor.

They may struggle early with the loss of Maile but will get better as the year winds down. Still won't be able to compete with Holmes.

From what I saw last year, they relied on Maile too much. He's talented, but what I saw was not what Covington Catholic basketball has been about for the past 9 seasons under Mike Listerman.

 

Like I mentioned earlier, I have a hard time believing that there aren't enough quality players to make a run at the regional title. I'd imagine that this team has busted their butts this offseason on the court & in the weightroom(s) and you'll see a lot of fresh faces who will surprise you.

 

I have very little knowledge about this year's edition, but I know that the system works. And it works well.

Thelen is a sophmore. Last time i heard he was about 6'5'' and weighed about 210 pounds. he will help Cov Cath a lot this year.

Ah I hear ya. I think I remember him as played on the freshmen team. Looked like he will progress to be a solid player for cch in the years to come. I don't know that he'll break the starting rotation this year, but then again have not seen his ability this year so...we shall see.

I believe he played for Shinings Stars. I can't see him starting with Welbrock Counts and Isler in front of him.

Yeah I was at the football game when it happened, it definitely is an unfortunate loss for the football team at this point. But from what everyone is being told it really is only 2 or maybe 5 weeks is what my younger brother told me. He should be fine for basketball.

If I read correctly it looks like Isler will not be available to start the year.

 

There is no way that this team can put Counts, Wellbrock and Isler on the floor together and guard anyone in this region. I like Counts but he is not a three.

 

The reason that I mention Trevor Sorrell is because he has the ability to shoot the three and put the ball in the basket. With Isler, Mailey and Klein not being available you don't have a lot of options.
