Definitely traveling. When you leave the floor you have 2 options, pass or shoot, you cannot pass it to yourself or start a dribble after being airborne.

 

If you consider the throw a shot attempt, they can go get it without penalty, if it's not considered a shot attempt it is a violation.

 

Same thing if a player is under the basket shoots it straight up and hits nothing, it comes back down and the player catches it, they can now dribble, pass or shoot again with no penalty!!!! Just thought I would add that in there.
