I don't really want to retype Chapter 1 of the Rules book here, so can you narrow it down a little? Which markings are you really interested in? What makes you ask the question?

If there is an online link? That would work. If not, what about yardlines and hashes?

Rule 1-2-3b...Yard lines shall be marked with a continuous line every 5 yards beginning and ending 4 inches from each sideline.

Game administration may place on the field of play, 4 inches from each sideline, yard line extensions that should be 24 inches in length and 4 inches in width.

Rule 1-2-3e...Inbounds lines, "a series of hash marks", should be 24 inches in length and 4 inches in width and shall be located 53 feet, 4 inches from and parallel with each sideline dividing the field of play longitudinally in thirds. The inbounds lines shall be marked so that each 5-yard line bisects the hash mark.

Game administration may place on the field of play, at the inbounds lines, yard-line extensions that should be 24 inches in length and 4 inches in width.

Thanks. One more question. Would a lack of yard lines or hash marks actually make the field illegal?

We are speaking hypothetically, of course. :D It would be difficult to keep your QB 7 yards behind the center if there are no hash marks on the field...and maybe difficult for the officials to determine whether or not he is seven yards back.

If they are not required, I am just wondering why everyone else goes to the expense (and trouble) of painting them on.

Punters don't seem to have any problem lining up more than 7 yard deep...;)

I am guessing this has something to do with the A-11 offense and eligible numbers for receivers.

Bingo. :thumb:

I have two of the rule books and can't find either at the moment.

If I had a dollar for every time I said that to a coach...:D

I have a question. Is it illeagle to chop block if the QB is in the gun? This penalty was called twice on MC in their 1st game against Clinton Co. so they stopped (yea, yea so it took 2 times to get them to stop). However, against Leslie Co MC got chop blocked several times and the ref's said it was leagle. I would really like to know which crew of refs were right and which ones were wrong?
