What is the rule? Is there a mercy rule in KHSAA for Football?

After sitting through a drumming from Frankfort last night, I would think the option for a running clock in the second half would exist...Thanks in advance for off of your information!

45 point lead in the second half unless both coaches agree to a lesser margin.

I may be wrong. But I don't think it's manditory to run the clock. Altough why they wouldn't.

Its a rule. Any time the lead hits 45 points in the 2nd half, the clock runs continuously from that point on, even if the margin decreases after that point.

 

I've not heard of a game where they dismissed the rule. Is that what happened last night?

After a 45 point lead in the 2nd half the clock will only stop on a TD, TO, or injury. Thats the rule

Last night Frankfort had 48 or 49 points early in the third quarter..the clock did not run...made for a miserable experience for Gallatin fans trapped in the mini stands...Frankfort did what they do, won and won big!

 

I am not complaining about the score...only wish GC was the 60!

FHS didn't score enough points until the 4th quarter. They had 42 points almost the entire quarter. Clock ran in the 4th.
