Oldham County Football

Featured Replies

There are quite a few good quality players in the OC. Why do they not get any love? I know that most people feel that OC Schools don't really care fore athletic programs, but just look at Football this year.

North Oldham

Andrew Tuller

Spencer Gooch

Oldham County

Dylan Underwood

Ichiro Chiba

Chad Dennis

South Oldham

Brandon Kollenberg

Cody Malone

I think that all of those are Seniors, I am sure that there are underclassmen contributing as well.:ylsuper:

Just think if it was one school like it used to be- that would be interesting!

Oldham Co schools are in the Louisville market but they aren't in 6A, therefore they will get "also ran" treatment. Plus Oldham just got trounced by St X, South hasn't won a game, and North's schedule is a joke.

But a more general response to your question would be what kind of "love" are you looking for? Most people on the site post on what they know regionally with attention to the top 10 teams across the state. If they aren't getting love on the site it is probably because they don't have many supporters on the site, or many people who have seen them play.

I agree and disagree- One school would do very well against anyone. St. X should pounce a neighborhood school, South is better this year, North's schedule is not a joke. Oldham Co schools do get side bar status in the paper.

Oc and North will be around or in the top 10 all year.

Love? Courier has them ranked #5 in Class 5A!

The thing about North is that they potentially could be the next great high school program in Kentucky but they need to have Ballard, Eastern, and Fern Creek on there schedule instead of Atherton, Shawnee, and KCD. And I don't blame anyone for this, as schedules are two year deals and North is still a brand new program but they will not get noticed playing the traditional doormat programs. Until they develop a strong Louisville reputation they (as much as if not more than anyone else) will lose the best players to schools in St Matthews and Germantown. They may have an average 3A schedule, but they should strive for more.

Why should a 3a school play 6a teams? Especially a team that was 7-34 the first 4 years?

Because they "will" not be a typical 3A school.

Many of those water bottle holders at St Matthews and German Town came back. I would venture to say that Manual lost more players than the Oldham County Schools did.

They could be non typical- like Central- athletically not there yet

I should have stated this better. There are several quality players at the 3 schools yet no one ever talks them up. Each school has a runningback that has rushed for over 2oo yards in a game this year and nothing. It is not like these kids are running behind the lines of X or T. They are earning what they get.

I think that it is a shame that kids like this don't get more exposure.

Several reasons, including low cost of travel, poosible build up of good rivalry, putting more fans in the stands. They should engage in JV and Frosh games as well to speed the development of the younger players.

Oldham youth programs are very important. The coaching abilities of these teachers of the game is paramount. Oldham football would get a great deal more ink if you didn't have three high schools. I understand there is a fourth on the way. Oldham have could kept separate buildings and played as one school. Now, you have three with a fourth on the way splitting up the talent pool.
