August 15, 200818 yr Jackson Browne doesn't want John McCain running on anything fueled by his lyrics. The singer-songwriter sued McCain and the Ohio and national Republican committees in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles on Thursday, accusing them of using his song "Running on Empty" without his permission. http://music.yahoo.com/read/news/61643448
August 15, 200818 yr Good! Never understood why politicians think they are somehow exempt from copyright laws.
August 15, 200818 yr Poor little tree hugger. Way to miss the point. It's irrelevant that he's a tree-hugger. It's that McCain's people are using copyrighted material without permission. I'm sure you'd feel different if Obama were lifting a Toby Keith song.
August 15, 200818 yr Author Poor little tree hugger.:laugh::laugh: Anyone who stands up for their copyright is always poor and a tree hugger. Jackson Browne is smart music, why would ANYONE want to lift Toby Keith' music. Well, unless they were lifting it into the trash can.
August 15, 200818 yr Way to paint with such a broad brush there. I just find it laughable that Jackson Browne is claiming irreperable damage because of this. And I could care less what The One does or doesn't do, let him run with a Toby Keith sone, I'd love to see the fireworks.

You don't think Toby Keith would be upset by being associated with a left-winger like Obama? C'mon, you're not that naive.
August 15, 200818 yr You don't think Toby Keith would be upset by being associated with a left-winger like Obama? C'mon, you're not that naive. I didn't say that he wouldn't be upset, just that it would be no skin off of my nose. It would mean absolutely nothing to me one way or the other. I do think that it would be a heck of a lot more entertaining to he Toby Keith's reaction as opposed to Jackson Browne's. I tend to think musicians take themselves WAY to seriously.

You're still missing the point. McCain's campaign stole from Jackson Browne. It would be no different than if I came by and stole your car.
August 15, 200818 yr I take copyright law very seriously. So copright laws are an exception to ultimate liberty?
August 15, 200818 yr Author So copright laws are an exception to ultimate liberty? Apples and Oranges. By using someone else s property without there permission you infringe on their liberty.
August 15, 200818 yr You're still missing the point. McCain's campaign stole from Jackson Browne. It would be no different than if I came by and stole your car. I'm missing nothing. I just find it laughable that Jackson Browne says that he has suffered "irreperable harm". Irreperable harm in mymind means loss of life or limb. Jackson Browne has lost nothing.
August 15, 200818 yr Author I'm missing nothing. I just find it laughable that Jackson Browne says that he has suffered "irreperable harm". Irreperable harm in mymind means loss of life or limb. Jackson Browne has lost nothing. So are you saying that copyright law doesn't matter?
