Raceland/Johnson Central/Pikeville Scrimmage

Featured Replies

First off, Johnson Central is going to have a great facility when it is complete. The field looks very good, and once they get all the ground work and area around the field done, it will be great.

I thought Raceland looked pretty good for their first outing. It was hard at times for me to evaluate them, they never had all the starters in at the same time. Several backups got quality reps. All three teams looked about the same for for the preseason.

Boyles over threw several receivers, but made some good completions, Denton and Carver had some quality runs. Micheal Litteral (Soph) had some very good runs. Cody Kelley looked good. The OL started slow in the first series, but settled down and did better in the remainder of the scrimmage.

During the JV scrimmage, Raceland looked to play very hard, some of the younger players looked pretty good.

Defensively, Raceland gave up some big plays, but looked to be pretty strong over all on run defense, JC and Pikeville didn't pass a lot, but did complete some on Raceland.

All in all, I think Raceland looked good for the first scrimmage.

Thanks for the update Ram. :thumb: Did we get anyone injured (or anyone else)?

How did the other two teams look Ram?

Pikeville looked solid. JC looked good. All three looked about the same to me at this point in the season. All three had some big plays, and all three gave up some big plays, but none were dominating each other. I think Raceland scored five on Pikeville and three on JC. Pikeville score about three on Raceland, and JC score four or five on Raceland. I think it was a wash for the most part.

No one scored on JC first team. I thought when they were out there they dominated. Didn't even get close.

Maybe I didn't know when their starters where in. But, I really don't think any of the three teams were dominate. Maybe my definition is different. Johnson Central and Pikeville both looked good, and should both have good seasons.

I am sure that all teams were playing a lot of people, working on different things, etc.. That is imo why it is a practice/scrimmage. Those were three very good football programs on the field.:thumb:

From what I heard (secondhand information), that Johnson Central was head & shoulders above Pikeville and Raceland.

Thats what I heard from a Pikeville supporter.

But when your a 5A school scrimmaging 1A schools its only going to help the 1A teams, in this case it was Raceland & Pikeville.

Jc was heads and shoulders above. They are supposed to be.

Heard from a very knowledgeable member of the Orange Nation that Johnson Central was completely dominate in the scrimmage. Not that it is a bad reflection on Raceland. I've heard that Raceland played pretty well and more than competed w/ Pikeville. Wish I could have been there to see it. If the Rams stay healthy they will have a good chance of beating everyone on their schedule.
