No, the local's were blamed.That situation was entirely different. David Axlerod is not an evil genius and those locals were just good liberals trying to do their jobs. I'm not sure how spreading a false rumor combing the double whammy of infidelity with a black woman compares to a poor decision to not allow Muslim women to stand behind Obama. One is a flat out orchestrated lie while the other, regardless of whose call it was, was not smart but no lies were spread. Surely you see the difference.

You assume Rove made the call to spread a rumor in South Carolina. But Obama's heads get a pass and the locals are blamed for really bad decision. How do you know the rumor about McCain even came from Bush's campaign and if it did how do you know it wasn't the locals in South Carolina that started it?

However, you would be in the minority if you believe that Rove didnt orchestrate it. To your bigger point, I never really buy any of the "Oh, the candidate wasn't aware of it" garbage coming from the camp. While its possible and there are rogues, the fact that I wasn't born yesterday causes me to always question that one. So, you've got $1 to bet. Yes or no. So, in your opinion, when Chris ("is not a liberal)" Matthews claims to have voted for Bush to demonstrate his non-partisanship - he is telling the truth but when Rove denies that he was behind the alleged smears against McCain in 2000 he is lying. Very interesting... I won't say Rove is lying because I don't know whether he ever denied it. If he did deny it then, yes, I say he's lying. A little history lesson would tell you that its not a surprise that Matthews voted for Bush as his disdain for the Clintons is well known. Other than that, I think you've nailed it. Now which way are you leaning? Yes or no?
