The size of players these days is amazing

Of course Highlands had Jared Lorenzen at QB in '98, 99. He was the classic lineman size. Actually maybe he was even bigger than the "classic Highlands" lineman.:D

Oh boy, you need to get the old scrapbook out and brush up on some of your years. Jared played 97,98. Man Henry!!!!!! it's only been 10 years.

I agree with Ram, you can be a 6'5 lineman around 300 lbs, and can still look athletic. I have been at all 3 levels and this size is the norm, especially at the college and NFL level. Since pee wee football has begun, if you havent already, go to a pee wee football practice and tell me what you see. Even the 9 and 10 year olds look bigger now a days. Im not talking fat but stocky and thick looking.

Sorry, it won't happen again. :D

Maybe we just have differing opinions of "athletic".:D Its been a rare occasion when I saw a kid that big in high school (which is what we are talking about here) that was athletic. The last big kid I saw that had real athleticism was Cobble from Lou. Central and before that Conner Smith from Colerain. They say the kid from Beechwood is (I always forget his name, and I apologize for that) is very athletic. Highlands scrimmaged them last year and I didn't notice him. We scrimmage them again and I intend to make a point of noticing him. But assuming he is, that's still only a few of the very many big kids that I have seen play over the last 5 years that have impressed me with their athleticism. Granted, I haven't seen all the big kids in the state, but of those that I have, I've seen a lot more overweight, out of shape, un-athletic ones that I've seen fit, in shape and athletic ones. And as the couple of articles I posted indicated, these really big kids are facing real health issues. If you haven't read the articles, you may want to. The one about the NFL linemen is particularly alarming when you consider that they continue to at least engage in some type of conditioning after high school. I wonder and worry what will happen, health wise, to the 300 pound high school player that doesn't go onto college and the pros, but rather stops after high school, keeps the weight on (or adds more) and doesn't do much if any conditioning after he finishes his high school football career. That can't be good.
