July 20, 200818 yr Author Silva by TKO in round 2. Vera by submission in round 1. Edgar by Unanimous decision. O'Brien by Unanimous decision. Johnson by round 1 TKO. Taylor by Unanimous Decision. I was 3/6 in my predictions for this one...
July 22, 200818 yr Anderson Silva is a freak...I did not expect him to finish James Irvin with basically one punch. I would really love to see the UFC let Silva move up for some superfights in the 205 pound division. He doesn't have to compete for the belt. I'd just like to see him fight some of the bigger names when the opportunity comes along. Imagine a Silva vs. Liddell/Silva/Rampage/Forrest,etc...would be cool.
July 22, 200818 yr You've gotta go with Markham, Silva's whole set up was impressive, catching the kick, delivering the punch. But as for best KO, that's gotta go to Markham, he did it on the defensive, with one kick. That was it, ha when Markham nailed him the other guy fell like a pencil. Now that was an awesome knockout.:thumb:

I've heard he'll defend his middleweight belt at UFC 88 or UFC 89 and then move back up to 205 for a bout in December.

July 23, 200818 yr Any word on who he will defend against? Most likely Cote since Okami is out. Cote just beat Ricardo Almeida to become the #1 contender after Okami.

I first heard he was fighting in September but in a recent interview James Irvin did he said he originally wanted to fight Wanderlei but Joe Silva told him that Silva wasnt fighting again until December. But that would be a pretty long lay off I would hope to see him before then.

I doubt he'll be on that card since it's already stacked.
July 23, 200818 yr I've heard he'll defend his middleweight belt at UFC 88 or UFC 89 and then move back up to 205 for a bout in December. That seems most likely. He apparently wants to fight every couple of months...I think it will be hard for Dana White and Joe Silva to get Anderson Silva the number of fights he wants in a year without sprinkling some 205 pound fights in the mix. Unless they want to just feed him some cans at 185 to pass the time... From all Silva has said, his primary focus is on the 185 pound division and defending his title there, so I expect him to make that division his priority. But, if he's wanting to fight 5 or 6 times a year, it's most likely that one or two of those will have to be "special" fights against guys from different weight classes. Most likely that will be 205, but I suppose there's always the possibility of a match with GSP...although I think GSP would be completely overmatched if that happened. I'd love to see the UFC make some matches between Silva and some bigger name LHW's once or twice a year in between his 185 pound title defenses. I wonder who his next opponent at 205 will be.
