You are entitled to your opinion.Look at the stats .How many games did Allen pitch ?How many did they play ?Then look at innings if possible.Why pitch her vs teams (and I mean no offense ,these teams are not at the levelof others yet)like St Henry,Holmes,and Holy Cross.You are obviusly going to win these games .Then throw another senior in the JV game.I am glad the other young lady got some some work in .She is a great kid,as is Allen.Like I said ,Just my opinion

 

I agree with what you're saying. I thought your earlier post implied that he did NOT have any responsiblity to help prepare the team for the future since he knew it was his last year.

The Ryle pitching coach may have had some influence as well.

Where would you play Kirsten if she wasn't pitching? I've never seen her at another position. The same thing happened across town, one pitcher pitched every inning there and they have 2 really good young pitchers. On the other hand, why penalize these girls for being good at what they do? You don't take a good shortstop out when you are playing bad teams.

Surely you're not saying that she can ONLY pitch, right? She could really play almost any position and be strong.

I really have no idea how good she is defensively, like I said I have never seen her play anywhere except Pitch, I would guess she is probably not as good as any of the starters in the infield. I don't think it was wrong for her to pitch every game as long as she felt well. She is the one that worked that hard to be that good, don't tell her she can't pitch because she is to good, how about if the other teams work to get better.

I think you're missing the point that some others are trying to make. Some have questioned the coach for his not taking advantage of the opportunity to develop other pitchers in varsity games choosing instead to use Kirsten almost exclusively. It seems to be a fair question.

Most of these younger girls are pitching summer ball where the competition is better at the 12 and 14 year old level than it is in high school. I think she has earned the right to pitch every game she feels up to pitching.

Your theory is fine as long as no your stud pitcher doesn't suffer an injury. What if she did and no one else had pitched varsity?

Allen - as good as she was (is) - earned the right to be a member of the Ryle team, not THE Ryle team. There is absolutely nothing wrong - and, in fact, everything right - with giving a lesser/younger pitcher the opportunity to throw some innings against weaker high school competition. It's how you learn and how you gain experience. Explain to me the value - other than allowing Allen to accumulate stats - of pitching every inning of blowout games.

It also would give her a break every once in a while, and with 36 regular season games plus the postseason, that is a good idea. The top 3 teams in the state (Greenwood, North Laurel & O'Cath) got there in part because they used more than one pitcher and it let their Ace be more rested for the marquee games. It speaks to how good Allen is that she carried her team that far. However, when she got into the marquee games with North Laurel and O'Cath in the state tournament, I truly believe that had she not pitched every inning of every game in the state tourney she might have been a little fresher and NL and OC may not have scored 5 & 6 runs on her respectively. (I say 'may' because we will never know).

My point was that other teams are pitching only 1 pitcher, Conners pitcher has pitched every inning for the last 2 years and nobody is making a big deal of it. If it does not help the team to pitch another girl then it is their choice. In my opinion Ryle would not have won a game at the state tournament with someone else pitching. The only reason to pitch someone else during the season would have been to take it easy on another team. If you were the team that they started another pitcher against how would you feel?

I wouldn't have a problem with it. Tons of other teams I saw this year were using multiple pitchers to keep their #1 pitcher fresh for the bigger games.
