4chs
you are comparing drilling for oil to planting a tree???? oh irony . . . Should we not be investing in alternative energy instead of "feeding the monster" The Germans developed technology during the 1930's that converted coal to liquid fuel.....................how can the U.S. be so far behind? Maybe the oil company lobbyists and politicians could answer that question. They had better open up more areas to drill for oil and really look for alternatives or the U.S. economy will continue to slide.
bballfamily
How does it solve the problem to continue feeding the monster. The hunger will never be sated. The question is how do we cut our dependence on oil period, not just foreign oil and . . . New drilling in the US NOW will not bring down oil prices. Why drill if we are hoping to ween ourselves of our dependency People have been predicting we would run out oil since the 1920's. We need oil to run our economy now. If you want independence from oil get someone to work on it. Oh they have. Research on alternative options have been going on since the oil embargo of the 1970's, including the oil shale that we not are not allowed to use. These alternatives have limited scope at this time, because there have been no big breakthrus in technology
